Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo (その花びらにくちづけを) began as a simple yuri visual novel that features a really light yuri story. It emphasized the soft romance between two girls and quickly became one of a kind in a world dominated by fetishist and heavy materials. It was also one of the firslonging t ecchi visual novel that features purely yuri relationships. Because of its uniqueness, it soon gained widespread popularity not only within the niche, but among many anime fans.
Following the success of the first game, Sono Hanabira quickly expanded into a series of games that all cater to the sweet fluffy side in us. Since its humble beginning, the visual novel series has also prompted several associated artworks, light novels, drama CDs, an artbook, and even an anime adaptation.
Impeccably complemented by Peko’s gorgeous artwork, Sono Hanabira is definitely one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.

I found a program in the Chinese sono hanabira forum, it will translate Japaneses into Chinese while you are playing it, it won’t make any sense some time, but if you read between the lines, you will get the whole story, and if you change the translate engine into Bing, it will actually translate Japanese into English, same as in Chinese, it won’t make sense some time, read between the lines. I will post the link and create a easy tutorial if needed, or you can wait a year for the translations come out 😛

after you finished miyarisa pairing, replay the game and get to the scene where risa took miya to the school clinic, then select the 2nd option, at the christmas event you will have 6 options to choose depends on what pairings you want to see first

If I remember correctly from a long time ago, some were interested in fan-subbing the light novels. However, it was discouraged because of Xenocross’s involvement in an official English translation.

She graduated from middle school, she is now in the high school (if i read it correctly)

Let me correct all of your misunderstandings. Runa is in sixth grade in SH7, SH9 and Maidens of Michael. In Maidens of Michael, she graduates from elementary and moves on to middle school by the end of the Runa x Takako route.
… So young! (Too young!)
Runa’s age is never made an issue in any media she appears in though. And besides, even if she’s young, she’s more than self-aware (not really mature) enough to have a romantic relationship based on the games. But yeah, inside, she’s still a little kid, and is easily handled by Takako, especially in Maidens of Michael.
I wrote about this issue when I reviewed the ninth. In that particular visual novel, I felt that the self-awareness does border on the uncomfortable, and her immaturity became a far worse issue when she is encouraged by Takako (and Sono Hanabira) to be adult. I also hated how Takako handles her age. I have yet to see how they play out in Maidens of Michael though.

Yep, I have read your reviews for all the games, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. Takako using the “I’m an adult” card at Runa does come off as manipulative sometimes. Though I said Runa can have a romantic relationship, I don’t think she’s really ready for it yet. Maybe once she gets into high school, things will look brighter. Still, Hanabira exists to portray idealized yuri romance with the occasional heartwarming moments, with little care for tension, which, I really really love about the franchise in the first place.
Just a teaser for the Takako x Runa route: contrary to what one would expect, it is Takako who gets jealous over Runa and Rena’s closeness, something that I found to be a pleasant surprise.
I guess for me, that immaturity (both physical and emotional) of Runa makes it not an ideal relationship. Runa can experience with Romance, but I feel she is not ready for sex. I’m interested in Maidens of MIchael’s take on this couple though. They seem the hardest to get right.

Hi, I just downloaded the 4 parts from the desposit files links for Maidens of Michael, and I’ve tried hjsplit to combine them and it doesn’t seem to work. How do you combine these to make the single .rar file?

I think you can just use winrar to right click, and extract file?
well all 4 have another .rar file in them, then inside that .rar theres a bit more. only part 1 of the 4 parts has anything in that second layer of .rar’s though. I hope this makes sense. xD
I’m not sure I understand, but make sure they’re titled the same. If the files are name .rar.part1 … etc, then you can extract with winrar. If they’re .rar.001, then join with HJSplit. Good luck.
Well I went into all those sub folder .rar files and one of the .rar’s in part 1 had all the files it seems. don’t know why there are 3 other parts then…I can’t read jap but if i have any other tech problems i guess I’ll post them, thanks for the help. 😀
This is how it is when you separate it into parts. It will always show all the parts in any of the parts, but that doesn’t meant that the file is complete… I think.

Mates, I have a bit of a problem I need to address. I want to make up an original ranfic based around Sono Hana but I haven’t a clue on how to express the characters in my fanfic.
See the thing is, I can go about my character problem in 2 ways:
1. Use the original characters from the franchise and set them in the alternate universe, or
2. Make up my on characters.
You see my story revolves around one character who finds out the other is an orphan and is thus willing to help her out and not feel lonely or left out. If I were to use the original characters in the series, i would most probably have to change their usual personalities since the story is now set in an alternate setting. If I were to make up my own characters, I would have to describe the physical features of the characters, a task which I also find quite daunting.
But then again, what do you guys think?
I feel like what you really want is indeed two new characters set in the same universe. You’re rewriting their backgrounds (and by extension, their personalities), so at that point, using the same characters set in an alternate universe would simply be a formality of keeping the same names. So making up your own characters—perhaps a new couple—allow you more room to work, and avoids the primary issues with story-telling. The physical features will be a good challenge. ^ ^

The thing you’re referring to is the beta translation patch. It is full of minor errors and was to be used strictly for beta testing. Now that the final patch is out, please use that instead. It will be much better than the beta patch.

I was wondering when someone’ll get off the Madoka/Homura bandwagon and realize that whenever “Miya-san” is called, you get a tingling feeling. There’s also the “Miya-san, saviour of all strawberry (blondes) pinks!” stance. I think this is more like what Kaishaku was trying to do in Amnesian (y’know, the manga which had a slightly more detached and rule-abiding Himeko and a slightly laid back, rebellious and VERY fanservicey Chikane) than what Gen was trying to do in Madoka.
Or perhaps that’s because whatever Gen was trying to do, he succeeded, whereas…k, better not speak any more evil, ^^;
Agreed. Other than the character designs, this couple don’t really warrant that much comparison to Madoka. In fact, the two are vastly different works…

You know when I first found this series, I never expected for us to get English patches besides the first in the series.Now with only 3 games waiting to be translated, and one already having started to be translated, we are pretty much on the home stretch to having the whole series translated to English. And all I can say is thank you to everyone who helped with English patches which has allowed all of us to enjoy the games thoroughly.
P.S I’m not counting RisaXMiya game because I hope there is still a chance for a official English release.
Same here to be honest. A few years ago, I would have only expected the first to be translated, and there to be only a total of three visual novels. But I am so so glad how large the franchise and its fan base have grown over the years. People are really awesome!

"MainWindow:FileJoin" and then this string of Japanese Characters with DATA in the middle
Im assuming it has something to do with the DATA file. I've tried pegging it down as Read-Only but it didnt fix the problem :c
Just change the name of the folder into something in Latin characters (ABCD for example). If you changed your system locale, a Japanese folder name shouldn’t be a problem, though. Still, it won’t hurt to try it.

I don’t know how many metal heads we got here, but I’m gonna say this anyways.
Now, as a fan of Thrash Metal, Industrial Metal, and Speed Metal, it’s only natural that I would like to learn how to play the guitar and create songs of those genres.
But! Not only do I wish to create songs, but I would like to create songs that are inspired by the Sono Hanabira series. To most people, Metal seems unfitting to a series such as Sono Hanabira, but it is the genre I feel the most comfortable creating songs for, so whatever.
I hope that I can learn guitar well enough to where I can cover the BGM, and then later create my own songs, either instrumental or with vocals.
But, we’ll see what I can do! 🙂

After browsing through forums and comments about the SonoHana series, I came to realize that among all 7 the couples, only 3 are memorable. Namely, YuunaxNanami, ReoxMai, TakakoxRuna and ErisxShizuku.
Takako X Runa are famous in a bad way. Mainly because, most straight guys are not into femdom. I mean, Runa is just a student yet she can easily dominate someone so much older? Not to mention, their relationship is very controversial. I never played the game though, so I can only guess
Eris and Shizuku was famous because of the Yin-Yang fashion. Also, with an art work like that, people has no idea that Shizuku was more of a tsundere than a shy dandere that she seems to look like. Which might disappoint a few people.
Reo X Mai is the most famous because the 21st century was charmed by the tsundere archetype. Mainly because the lifestyle of today is running so fast its wearysome but no matter what the velocity, there people still remained in their simple clock-like lifestyle. We wanted to add spice on the plate. Tsunderes are like sheeps who pretends to be wolves. Taming them was exactly like venturing on an adventure with a promised treasure.
Yuuna X Nanami are famous not because they are the first in the line but because of one thing. The Irony.
In the Anime world, if a girl is behave in full grace, it only means one thing-she has a secret. Yuuna’s surprisingly childlike personality was a total contradiction to her mature ambiance. And just like what I said, the people of the 21st century are the people who are desperate for something new. Discovering Yuuna’s personality was already an adventure. And one can make alot of assumptions of why she cannot show her true character infront of others. (She must be having a hard time trying to live up to others expectations)
And my theory is this:The fans of ReoXMai are those who wanted to find a perilious quest that is alien to them and wanted to change their life through a dare. The fans of Yuuna X Nanami however are those whom instead of going out, chooses to seek their own adventure by taking a break from exhaustion into relaxation. They are types who are always relaxed and enjoys life by finding the small miracles that most had taken for granted.
Its just a guess though.
…Pleas, please, oh please expand this into an actual guest article. I can just see the kind of traffic this would get, plus I am actually interested in looking at your conclusions; it’s taking a whole new direction to analyze the characteristics of the series that makes it great, and I bet a lot of people can appreciate it.

I like your points! In particular, I love what you said about Mai x Reo and Yuuna x Nanami. Reo took advantage of the tsundere trend, and rode it to become one of the most popular couples. There’s a bit of an avalanche effect with them as well. They became more popular simply because of the staggering amount of material they are in, which, again, features them because they are so popular. Of all the pair, they are the ones fans are most familiar with and are arguably the face of Sono Hanabira.

While playing SonoHana 6, I just realized how mysterious Yuuna and Reo are.
This are my questions and theories about them

Character: Yuuna Matsubara. (The perverted Ojou-sama)
– As we have seen throughout the series, Yuuna acts firm and gentle on the first look. But whenever she gets the chance to be with Nanami, she starts to act childish and perverted. While funny, have you ever wondered why only infront of Nanami can she show that side of her?
My Theory is that ever since birth, she was pressured by the expectations for being in a highly respected family. All her life, she has lived by the rules of the collar. Turning her into a woman that the world will look up to. The ways of teaching her was probably not under extreme strictness (or she will be a rebellious type) but with “threats”. Threats that she will humiliate her family name and will be rejected by everyone she knows.
Driven by the fear of the future, she has learned to bottle up her emotions. And in order to cope up with the stress, she turn it to her masturbation and porn. Her exposure to such indecencies turned her into a secret pervert.
And despite all the adolations and admirations being thrown at her, it is plain in my eyes that Yuuna has no one to call as a “friend”. People are probably scared because she was a flower on top of a cliff. Ever since she met Nanami however, her dull life has been granted a chance.
And on their first meeting, notice how she was unable to control her lust and masturbated with Nanamis clothes when she knows that she will be returning anytime soon?
Thats a sign of being a kid who was never taught to control himself. Which is another sign of neglect from home. Her parents only care about what she can bring to the family. Not about who she is.
Only in front of Nanami can she show her true self- A Yuuna Matsubara who is childish, selfish and dirty.
(Stop reading and skip to the next character! The next paragraph contains some terifying theories. YOU HAD BEEN WARNED)
Once her parents found out that she is a lesbian and will be unable to produce a heir for them, it is obvious that they will not hesitate to arrange a marriage for her. And can you guess the horrifying ending? Thats right, it will be a very messy one
I mean havent you noticed that Yuuna is just one step closer to being a YANDERE?!?! (A victim of bipolar disease)
Just imagine the image of the goddess Yuuna… her beautiful dress now stained by the blood of the sinners who denied her of happiness….her once angelic giggle decayed into a deranged laughter…. eyes once shinning in full meaning are now a soulless void of her undying love… and before the curtains called, we will hear her sweet flowing voice as she say: “I did it because I love you…”
I will consider it a blessed year if I wont have a nightmare later

Character: Reo Kawamura (The Ferocious Tiger)
– Ahh…the famous tsundere loli. Or so you thought.
At first glace, one can assume that she is just another tsundere for the bandwagon of stereotypes. But I noticed this:
Right from the start, Reo acts tough and rebellious. And as far as I know, tsunderes only turn to their “tsun tsun” side as a phsycological defense to stop themselves from being embarrassed in front of their lover whom they still haven’t trusted. But why was it that during the time that Mai got sick and her classmates volunteered to take care of Reo, she also turned violent to the point that alot of their classmates was either hurt or freak-out (or both) and the incident actually traumatized them?
While its funny in a fictional novel, if applied to real life phsycology, it can give you a very disturbing result.
This is my theories:
Just like Yuuna, Reo was born as well in a high-class family. And just like Yuuna, her parents often leave her alone. However, unlike Yuuna who was taught to be a well behave girl, Reo however has suffered neglect and abandonment.
Ever since she was a child, she was always being left under the care of maids and butlers.
However, due to the fact that she rarely gets to see her parents, she has assumed in her young mind that she is an unwanted child. The idea of rejection and betrayal was already tempered to her heart.
Her violent behavior was her defense mechanism towards every single person who attempts to show her affection. She becomes violent because she is afraid that those who shows her love was a false one. Right from the start of the Eroge, we saw her acting independent which is a proof that in a very young age, she was exposed to the idea that she cannot trust anyone else but herself.
Another thing to notice is how she is so innocent when it comes to the rules of the society. I mean havent you remembered on the eroge, There was this scenes where:
1. She refused help when she knows that she is lost on the first day of classes.
2. She tends to forget alot and she does not even know the difference between butter and lard.
3. During the Cake baking scene where she brought the wrong ingredients, she suggested that they should just snatch some butter.
4. She lives alone in a big house!
5. She chosed to starve than to eat another meal from some fastfood chain
6. She growled at the girl who confessed to Mai
7. Dont get me started on what she did to the rest of the class.
(I havent played SonoHana# 5 yet, though)
It all matches!
She lives in a constant fear that the more she enjoyed the love being showered upon her, the more painful it will be in the end. Despite being a clumsy, she decided to keep up her pride by firing her maids and living alone in her house. In isolation and within enclosed walls, she feels secured.
While it was pressure that turned Yuuna into hiding her true self, Reo however suffered massive trauma which caused her to reject the society and seclude herself in her own world.
Also, I dont think that she really starved herself all because of the flavor. She is a rich person, she can always call for a delivery in an expensive restaurant. Was she just that dumb that she forgot to eat?
The answer is a NO!, that scene was an undeniable proof that she was under the influence of a “SUICIDAL DEPRESSION”.
The loneliness caused her to become depressed. Depressed people often forget ALOT of things and they tends to lose appetite. Though they loses appetite, their body still needs it. Which she is unaware of, causing her to collapse right in the middle of class.
When Reo met Mai, she felt no care for her at all. What persuaded her to develop her feeling was this: “Mai was the only person ever to insult and pick a fight with her”
The bitter memory was proof of her honesty. The exact thing that she always seeks. She feels secured behind Mai’s back and trusts that she wont be betrayed anymore. And another thing to mention about was Mai’s perverted agressiveness
Mai thinks that they only has sex for the sake of proving their love. But little does she know that every time they have sex, she was keeping Reo’s stress under control.
Just in case you havent noticed. Ever since Reo became exposed to sex, she started to exert effort in making friends. Hell, I even saw in the CG pack that she joined the chorale of their school!
Reo was far from being a Yandere like Yuuna. But if ever you try to remove Mai from her, your days are numbered.

Your fan theory’s are pretty good dude but i wonder why Nanami makes that hidden personality of Yuuna appears? Apart of being a cute and lovely little angel, probably because she represents everything Yuuna wanted to be, a normal, free spirit girl. She saw all those qualities in Nanami and immediately she went head over heels for the girl, that will also explains why she protects and pamper her so much, she wont let anyone take that part of her away and the only person who ever brought happiness in her life. I like your analysis of the two more fascinating characters (at least relatively to their respective partners). For Yuuna, I do get that yandere vibe, and I could see how she plays into the repressed, Freudian ojou-sama trope—the pressures of being a model student resurfaces as sexual deviancy (an idea I’ll touch on later). This also harks back to Maria-sama ga Miteru, which Sono Hanabira—along with most yuri after it—definitely draws influences from. Yuuna is a more seductive and manipulative version of Sachiko, who does go through that whole pressure-cooker high society, admired-but-lonely lifestyle.
Still, I prefer to see Yuuna simply as someone who is just naturally in touch with her sexuality. To me, she seems like someone who is highly intelligent, manipulative, and in control. She knows what she wants and she does not deny her emotions—and allows them to run rampant—because she knows how to get her way ultimately. I also dislike labeling her openness to her sexual side as indecent or dirty. I like to think it’s empowering to take control of her sex life, even in the face of a judgmental high society environment she is in. I don’t think we need to try to find something missing or unsatisfactory in her life to justify being sexual. Yuuna could be the way she is because she is smart enough and adventurous enough to embrace and go after one of the most wonderful things in life. (I am a big fan of Yuuna.)
As for Reo, I agree. We get a sense of her darker home environment from her vulnerability and attitudes. There are several really poignant scenes throughout the series where we see Reo alone with absent parents. I remember one about food and another over the phone. Both show Reo struggling to cope with living alone and not holding up well, even if she would not admit it. I would not go as far as to claim she has clinical depression or is suicidal, but she is certainly not happy with her home situation.

It seem to me that Eris may be an exchange, international, or overseas student. In that case, it’s not hard to imagine her living alone in Japan. She is in high school after all. I remember when I was in high school, one of my classmates also lived alone in the states as an exchange student. Well…about Yunna, my theory about that may not please many but honestly? I really believe that in the first game they did not know exactly what direction to take, so this is
why the first was so incomplete and based on sex sex sex…so this is why Yunna is like that.
I dont liked Yunna at first because it was clear to me that she was a character far from away from being “human”,(sad but true) Nanami was the only one who had some character development.
Then I truly believe that THIS is the trully “reason” for Yunna be that pevert …to be honest I believe that neither the authors really think of a “reason” initially to this on the first eroge.Lucky that in the sequel they tried to fix it and it gave more character development to her side. In response to how Yuuna can be so perverted, I think the natural course of development of a young girl may lead to having such sexual desires and fetishes. (Women are sexual beings after all, often more so than many realize or admit.) I don’t actually find her that much more “perverted” than a lot of people I know. She’s certainly not a genetic outlier.
Rather, I think it is only within the context of the super proper conservative Sono Hanabira universe that she comes off particularly “perverted.” They are high school girls, and it is reasonable that they would have such sexual desires, rebellious thoughts, and adventurous spirits.
Again, these are just my takes. I simply don’t find a need to justify her sexual side—whether through “boring genetics” or some sort of psychological happenings—as most women have that sexual side and do express those sexual side, especially at that age.
p.s. Agreed though that Yuuna’s character felt a bit stock in the first one. Her development is a bit directionless, but she got fleshed out pretty well in her sequel.

But I have to say that disagree with the part of Reo, I believe her parents are actually very much absent for some reason but is also shown many times that she miss them and how she’d like them…Further proof that she loves them and how to call them “Mama” and “Papa”
So I believe that in fact she loves them, if she suffered this so much abuse she would not miss them or call them in a so affectionate way ^^
The only fact is that they are actually missing for some reason and that Reo suffer for it and yet she still likes them.I imagine that her mother should be an extremely busy but about her Dad and I do not the faintest idea…I only imagine that he haddnt a good relationship with his whife as was already mentioned that they wanted to divorce.

Agreed about Reo. I doubt the back story of Reo is so dark as active abuse, although I do think that there’s some sense of neglect and abandonment (at least from Reo’s point of view). I don’t think it’s that hard to imagine that Reo would still love her parents even if they are not always around. In fact, it seems only natural. She would not care as much for their presence and attention if she did not love them.
But I actually agree with something else that I forgot to mention: the fact Mai helped Reo too much to evolve and that made her to become a much happier person,i loved when i read that she was making friends ^ _^
And indeed I see that she has serious trust issues, I think deep down she is afraid to be abandoned again by people she loves as she was with her parents and this leads her to act so aggressively and to exclude herself from others.I mean… she is too proud to admit but i also agree that she would probably be in pieces if something happened to Mai, the proof was when she almost killed the girls in the classroom in the second eroge and refused to get close to others when she thought that she would no longer going to be with Mai anymore. I love her because while she’s cute she and is also very fierce and determined at the same time( especially for the last part!!)I like people who are not afraid to fight for what they believe…so the cute and tsundere thing is just an “extra”.

To make it more clear, there are translation patches available for the first eight games (Hanahira! doesn’t count), but none of the others have an available translation patch. Additionally, none of the .zip files I have listed are currently patched, so to obtain the patches, follow the related links under each game to it’s English Translation. To patch, you must place the downloaded executable in the same directory as the game, then execute it and follow the instructions.

Hm… For Maidens of Michael, I think you have to burn on a cd. For the others, I don’t think so.

You need to download the text file at the bottom of the post. That URL, if you notice, is longer, because I did include the encryption key for that file. Anyways, download that text file, open the .zip containing the text file using the password ‘fuguriya’ (quotes not included) and use the codes in the file to authorize all of the other downloads.

The .zip containing the text file will open upon inputting the password fuguriya. From there, you can download each of the games with their corresponding hash key. I will note, though, that if I remember right, this only goes to Michael no Otome-tachi. I don’t know as to when I’ll get the others DLed, but it’ll happen at some point.

Unfortunately, I don’t even have the game files on my current computer right now. If anything, I’ll have to see if I still have the game files on MEGA. I would suggest, though, that it might be a good idea to check out sites for torrents. The Pirate Bay and Nyaa are likely the two best candidates if you’re limited to public trackers, but Tokyo Toshokan might have them, too. As for private trackers, I’ll leave that up to individual determination.
Beyond that, I’m not sure if I want to make the effort to set up something like this again, but we’ll see.

Has YurinYurin recently posted some news about an official english translation for maidens of michael? or is anyone planing on doing a fan translation? I wrote an analysis of Kitajima Kaede’s character development throughout the visual novels in response to general misunderstanding of her character. It is a work in progress and I encourage fans of the series to read it and debate any points that I discuss.
Oh wow. I skimmed a bit and will write a proper response when I get back in two weeks. (Going to be without my laptop while I travel.) It looks very detailed and in depth. I recommend everyone check out AXYPB’s posts on Kaede and Sono Hanabira. Certainly this one, and the one before.

Apparently this is the girls placed in a Megami Tensei-esque universe and they have to fight for their survival. I was a little skeptical at first at how this will turn out since the girls would be placed under life and death situations but the execution in remarkable.
It is a really good read if you do have the time to explore it. I highly recommend you guys checking it out.

I’m sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere in this thread, but it’s very long. ^_^ I’m having some trouble playing the game, and was wondering if someone could help me. Hopefully I’m just making a beginners mistake since this is my first time using Wine.
I use a mac, so naturally I’m running this in wine/winebottler. I’ve downloaded both Hanabira2 and Hanabira7 and am having the same trouble with both. When I attempt to open HANA7.exe, Wine gives me two options 1). Run this program in user/blahblahblah or 2). “Convert to simple OS X Application to bundle with WineBottler.” When I select option #1 the window closes and nothing happens. When I select option #2 it opens a window which lets me install the game and create a prefix (please note I’m not tech literate and don’t actually know what this means.) I’ve done this successfully and have the app on my desktop with the icon, but when I attempt to open it, it opens a small window with a progress bar saying “loading” for a brief moment before quitting out.
I’ve overcame a few problems by myself, but I’m stuck. Please help me!
If you’re trying to run Hanabira on either Mac or Linux, you’re going to have to download a program that will patch a conflicting file in order for the VN to work on Wine (http://vn.i-forge.net/tools/#sono+hanabira+ni+kuchizuke+wo%C2%B1+linux+wine+fix). After you follow the instructions, the VN should be up and running. I have a number of them on my Macbook as I’m typing this. Hope it works out for you!

That fix is supposed to apply to MGD, but when I open MGD it brings up a Terminal window which says…

… and does not allow me to enter the command. It gives me this same error when I attempt to open the other extensions (is that the correct word?) which is why I don’t think it’s related to that bug.
When I attempt to enter the command in a fresh Terminal window, it tells me the
-bash: $: command not found
Do you know what might cause this?
What version of OS X are you using? I’m sure you already did this, but you have X11/Quartz installed, right?
When you tried to open SonoHana with option 1, it didn’t give you an error message or anything? If Wine is being used, it should attempt to run Wine and then the VN. If it works, it should output an error, which is normal since the patch hasn’t been applied yet.
I would change the folder to an English name, like “Hanabira 6” or something, since I have had problems running the VN in the past with a Japanese folder name. Try that and see if it works.
I find WineBottler to be very problematic for me (had problems with sound for some reason), so I would recommend using PlayOnMac (http://www.playonmac.com/en/). The installation is very straightforward, but installing English translations and such is a little cumbersome.
As for the fix itself, there are only Linux and Window binaries available, so you won’t be able to run the fjfix file via the Terminal. You’ll have to use Wine’s command terminal (should be accessible in both WineBottler and PlayOnMac) and execute fjfix.exe there.
If you’d like, I take provide some kind of tutorial on how to run these games on Mac, since it’s a little different from Linux. It’ll take some time, but do try those methods first.

all i did was create a file on my desktop, extract the zip inside it. then download the patch and install it into that folder it should work fine then. if it stil dont work perhaps you forgot to change to japanese locale, update your divx etc
Well, I’m an idiot. It wouldn’t run because I kept the Japanese characters for the folder. I just made a folder with English text, put all the files in there (minus the original folder) and it runs perfectly.
This is a short Valentine’s Day story and it’s an all-ages doujin.
Once again, the choosen couple was Mai and Reo. It takes place on February 14, Valentine’s Day.
Mai has begged so much for chocolates that Reo hadn’t any other choice but make them.
But things didn’t end up so well for the two of them.

First, I’m not sure if this works on Windows 8, so we’ll just have to wait for someone else with Windows 8 to report back later.

While I was testing some Chinese translations for the upcoming step in regards to installing Chinese patches for Mac, I came across the Chinese translation patch for the ninth Sono Hanabira visual novel (Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu). Simply place these files in the folder where you downloaded/installed the ninth visual novel. Run “HANA9chs.exe” to read in Chinese.

Most people have no issue getting the good end since there are only 4 diverging paths, each with two choices. Save points and skipping make it fairly easy to get the right ending. As such, I haven’t really bothered to do so.

Can someone please help me, I just installed Michael no Otome-tachi, but I just can’t save the game.
Everything else works perfectly fine but whenever I want to save, it just doesn’t work
I’m not sure what the problem is per se. It may be a problem with your installation or your administrator privileges. You can try reinstalling the game. Or you can try to run as administrator. Hopefully, one of those fixes your problem. Good luck.
I once encountered this and managed to fix it by changing my screen resolution settings.

Would anyone be willing to reupload Michael no Otome-tachi to Mediafire for me please? If so you’ll have to split it into six 199 meg part files with WinRar. I can’t do torrents and I’m hesitant to use Mega and absolutely will not download their app thing or whatever is required.

– Right click the Michael no Otome-tachi folder and select “add to archive”
– in the bottom left corner is a box labeled “split to volumes, bytes”. Type in 199 meg then hit ok.

I’m assuming it’s talking about gene fusion of two female eggs’ haploid DNA to make an embryo with a full set of chromosomes from two female parents (complete with all the processes of recombination and such). With the current technology we have, it is not possible.
Actually, it is ENTIRELY possible. But there was a high chance of defects for the offspring so its not recommended. For now…

I should note, my comment refers to human embryos. It has worked in mice, but none so far in humans. I should also note that high chance of defects means that it is not possible, ethically or legally, to do so. The major issue isn’t as much with haploidisation. It’s genomic imprinting. It’s not just high chance of defects; the embryo will not develop. To say it is ENTIRELY possible is optimistic.
A further note, the BBC article you linked is from 2002, and although optimistic (as well as leaves out key points on the Kaguya mice and some of the more science-y details), the barriers that have kept this from happening with humans are still not overcome within the last decade.

A quick search on PUBMED also shows nothing new published on this in recent. With time, we may be able to understand epigenetics and human imprinting genes enough to manipulate it, but with the current understanding and technology, we cannot.
An aside on scientific journals, sources are actually very important. When it gets to very specialized sciences (physics, biology, medicine), major publications can often have misleading or lacking information, as well as draw their own conclusions.

What your talking about is “parthenogenetic development” wherein the subject will give birth asexually or through the unfertilized egg. In the link I gave, it simply talks about extracting the subjects DNA from the donor and implanting it to the receiving egg.

First of all, Adam Nash is a completely separate case. He is simply an embryo that has undergone screening to make him compatible with his donor. The inclusion of “spare part baby” to this article is disingenuous, as it has little to do with what we’re talking about. He has a male father and a female mother. His embryo didn’t go through any significant changes other than having been screened first for the wanted traits.
This highlights my point about the amount of misunderstanding there exists in science articles published by non-scientific journals. BBC article puts together separate researches and draws its own conclusions just because they happen to involve babies. I still have no idea what Adam Nash has to do with the topic at hand. It doesn’t.

Oh, but it’s not so simple! That’s what I’m trying to point out. We can extract subject DNA, and perhaps even fertilize, but the embryo can’t develop properly. By the way, we can’t just extract DNA and inject it and expect it to work. It has to be packaged in a cell, otherwise, it immediately gets degraded if you just have a soup of DNA. Conception involves a lot of mechanisms. Imprinting is a key part of it—methylisation tag genes from each parent and turns them on or off. However, when we try it with somatic cells, the imprinting cannot be done right.
The article and you far simply the process. What I am talking about is indeed related to parthogenetic development, but it’s not the same thing. Parthogenetic development is the similar to the process we are going after, because we need to use somatic cells as the “sperm.”
Once again, it has not been done in humans! And please, do your research properly from peer-reviewed articles, and have a proper understanding of biochemistry, genetics, and epigenetic if you want to argue further. Lehninger, Principles of Biochemistry is a good place to start, and tends to be the textbook of choice for most college biochemistry courses. Harper’s is common too.
Finally, the second BBC article you linked is about making sperm cells from male stem cells. Again, this doesn’t apply to what we want, as epigentics is again at work here. (Not to mention, the sperm cells made are not shown to be mature or functioning.)

Notice again that it says “new method” without actually specifying what method it’s talking about. Most likely, it is referring to haploidsation of human eggs, but not to creating embryos. Once more, this is only one of the numerous steps needed to make a baby.

The research is about one of the steps that we may take to get there: haploidisation. It says nothing about the rest of the steps. I don’t fault you for not understanding this, as the actual biochemistry involved is very complicated and oft requires several advanced courses in related fields to fully appreciate. The article is intentionally vague so that it can draw a sensationalized conclusion. An analogy would be a physics article that cites invention of propulsion as the research and flying to another galaxy as the conclusion. The article title may say: “Colonizing another galaxy in the near future”, while the researches talked about is merely firing off rockets on earth and to the moon.
Case in point, the inclusion of Adam Nash is also to further that misleading conclusion.

Trust me, a publication on this will earn you enough fame, grants, and position offers in the scientific community that fringe religious mobs will hardly be a concern. You can’t find the articles because there isn’t one. Check the major science databases and journals: NCBI, Pubmed, Science, Nature… None of them has mentioned this being done in humans.

They have donors, they may have grants, but they certainly don’t have the technology. That’s the whole point I cited the articles—the ones with the Kaguya mouse with too much vocabulary. Those vocabulary mean something; it means we don’t have the technology yet to do it. If you did understand those paper abstracts, you will realize why we can’t do it yet. We can’t get past imprinting. (Of course, I’m assuming you don’t have a background in biochemistry, genetics, medicine, or any of the related fields, so I guess you will have to take my word for it… Or just continue believing in your version of science fiction.)
Now, let’s talk about the telegraph article.
This is a legitimate article that addresses a relevant point: sperm from a female cell line. Here are key points that it leaves out. First, although it is true that they were able to make sperm—to be more precise, spermatogonia, a primitive sperm—they were unable to make the primitive sperm mature further to be functioning. This is yet another barrier: we also can’t get past maturation of germ cells. As such, these IVD sperm cannot be used for fertilization.

People tend to far simplify processes without realizing how intricate every step of the process is. Something as “simple” as turning off a set of genes (we have two sets, and we use only one) can be difficult, near impossible, for us to do. Or, something as “simple” as developing a mature sperm from an embryonic cell line can also be difficult, as we do not have the precise control over genetic expression.
Now, this is the last I want to say of this topic, because I don’t want to spend more time looking at peer-reviewed articles accepted within the scientific community any longer. (One difference between peer-reviewed science articles and those that are for the laymen is specificity on what is done and a distinct lack of claims of spurious possibilities. It is irresponsible to do otherwise. Note that all the layman articles that you cited set the possibilities in some distant future and their self-drawn conclusions as indefinite.) You are free to believe what you want to believe, and you are free to blame the lack of babies with two biological female mothers on solely on religious pressures. I will tell you otherwise, and I will say that as of now, early 2013, we just cannot do it. I hope, for the others interested in this thread, that they found this educational.
Science is amazing indeed. And nature is so beautifully complicated. It’s hard to appreciate all aspects and details of it.

The next visual novel from Yurin Yurin has been announced: Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Tenshi no Akogare. This is the second title that was teased in the leaflet posted in January and features a new couple. “Members of another studio” was not correct. Madoka Yukari (writer) has been freelance, and Kogado studio had joined to Sonohana product from Maidens of Michael.

You have Daemon Tools, I am aware with that. Now, follow this instructions step by step:
1. Extract the .rar files.
2. You should now have one (or two) of these file with these extensions; .cue/ .bin/ .mds / .mdf.
3. Then, run Daemon Tools. Select the drop-down menu: File>Add Image(s). Search for .cue or .bin or any file that available from the extracted rar file.
4. After selecting the file required, an icon should be created inside the image files (iso or bin blablabla) browser.
5. Right click at the icon and there should be Mount Image option. Click it.
6. Then, without closing any browser or explorer on your windows that are related to the file you desire to install, open a new [My Computer] window. At the partition of additional removable storage, there should be an icon of the image file that you have mounted before. Click it.
7. Yeah, you can install the game normally after an installation window popped out.
8. If you get an undefined windows stating an error in a language or codes that you do not comprehend, well, you have missed this very important step: Change your system locale to Japan. For more information, please read the instructions and steps that have been provided in this forum comment section (courtesy to Yi) that has been buried. Search it with all your might.
9. After your system changes has been made (which includes the rebooting of your pc), you will need to install the file again. Follow the same steps.
10. If this still cannot solve the error, well, you are out of your luck. Please download another file from other encoder(s), which I really do not recommend you to do so, or just purchase the game legally.

Hi, I wonder if someone have the same problem as me, when I launch the game after installing it, I can hear the sound and it seems like I can click on the menus as well, however the screen is completly white.
It’s weird because it seems that I have installed the game correctly, I even used KiriKiri to extract the data.xp3 files to see if there was a problem with the datas, but everything seems to be okay.
Hm what now, I have installed the others game as well, my system’s locales are in Japanese and the others game all work without problem on my computer.
(Oh, and my operating system is Win 7 x64)

agree. huge-sized breasts weren’t really that appealing(well for me) anyway. dunno with the rest of the guys, especially for those are only after for the “action” (yes, there are VN readers who plays VNs just to see some “action” and ignore the plot/story which is kinda saddening and view them as fap material). but as for now, let’s see how this new SonoHana will fare for us fans. they say that “don’t judge the book by its cover”.

Well, I dislike big breasted 2D girls. Yes, I hated them.
However, the artist for Tenshi no Akogare has one of the best visual art in visual novel history.
You should look for [Konayuki Fururi] VN developed by Bloom Handle, in which I believe that it is the parent company of Fuguriya before. Well, this is my guessing though because Fuguriya uses the same visual novel control system as Bloom Handle, while Bloom Handle is a VN company that has been around the industry before Fuguriya is born. Yeah, Peko also has produced arts for Bloom Handle previously, and it is most noticeable in the VN which I stated above and Peko also has contributed in [Hapitora], [Aki no Urara no~Akaneiro Shoutengai] and many more from the Bloom Handle.
Images are lovely and crisp, although I’ll add one more voice to the dislike for exaggerated bosom. I’m not too particular about breast sizes—big, small, medium, whatever—but I do wish for a little modesty in terms of distortions to proportions. While I realize that anime is a style that affords and thrives on distorting certain features for aesthetics, this exaggeration borders on the ridiculous. It is not appealing to me.
With that said, a few of the CGs handled her sizes well, and I am looking forward to the story.
I have to say that I agree with disliking the exaggerated distorted breasts.. I mean.. I don’t really care about the size of the breasts, but about the story and cuteness, sweet romance itself =]
it is just that it kinda annoys me when the artist (anime/manga/game) just go overboard with it and its highly unnatural.. I mean the girl has a super thin waist and all that and then come HUGE breasts that are impossible.. Just saying that big, small, medium are all fine but I think they should at least do in a way that doesn’t deforms the character.. they think they are doing fan service but it just make me rethink a lot before watching/ reading/ playing.. Apart from that I liked the art of the new artist.. but I really do love Pekko’s art .. =]

The art is not like its predecessors. Boobs are too big, coloration lacks the soft purity, and the facial expressions lack the same emotion that I love 2nd in the series (next to the voice).

I havent played the game yet, but judging from what ive seen, it appears like it was another tactic at milking the franchise. (Considering as how it has no connection to the SonoHana series)

My take on this is that they are trying for more of an “adult” art for this particular title.Reasoning being is because the characters are older compared to SonoHana, and they are trying to make it more “sexy” instead of “pure” because of the age of the chars.
Some of you may say “but Takako is older too” while that is true she’s described as “baby faced” so there is that.
But on the breast department I agree, they are too large.

会田孝信 is the new artist. He has published a few pretty beautiful artbooks. Though, my heart will always lean toward Peko, 会田孝信 is a fairly established artist as well. I hesitate to call this one an abomination. (I have yet to play it though, but I anticipate a good story.)
The art itself isn’t bad. It’s the character design that feels a bit uninspired. The uncomfortably large size also doesn’t help.
I think Luz Terin has a good point. Of course, larger breasts do not mean adult literally. But the association is there, for better or worse. They come with stronger sexual connotations, sexual associations, adulthood, and even lewdness because of the history and prevalence of well-endowed women in pornography. It makes sense that when a production wants to take the next step toward more adult-oriented works, they would try for larger sizes. (Note too, that Luz Terin doesn’t say adult and sexy, merely adult. And adult—I take it to mean sexual. Sexy is something else that is more delicate, but can sometimes be lost on so many. Sometimes less is more. 😉 )

Yay for the new risa-miya game, even if I haven’t actually read it. We’ve been spoiled at how good the new couples have been in the last while, and they have become instant fan favourites (the last two, shizuku/erisu and risa/miya in particular). It’s almost as if they couldn’t fail as characters…
could it be because they actually couldn’t fail? Peko and sonohana have been stellar in a “classy” pure yuri perspective, and you can see that in the more popular scenarios, they mesh completely into a mainstream yuri anime-ish environment. Face it, you “see” Utena, 2.5/3 of the main Marimite couples, StoPanic comparisons, and a crossed knm/madoka couple, and you know they knew they were going to be popular 100% of the way. When they deviate, that’s when the fanbase gets a bit uneasy, and that shows when they branched out with Runa.(or when Yunna displays an…”unusual” side that Sachiko/Shizuma/Chikane probably wouldn’t…) But if Runa was a polarizing figure, then get ready sonohana fans…
sorry, tldr. In short, Red roses! Yellow roses! White roses (wow, they’re popular!) The teacher (wait, you sure about this?)…the university pair (since they’re that awesome)! The truant and the rep! The nurses…yeah, I guess it was coming (and honestly anticipated if in Peko’s trademark soft yuri style), but this one feels dangerous, not going to lie…

Whenever I play the third game after about a minute I crash. I’ve tried running the game as an administrator but I still get the problem. Is there a problem with the game?
Hm… The only thing I could think of is perhaps change the compatibility mode to run for Windows XP. Also, try not to switch windows or have anything pop up while playing (e.g. gchat or something).

Nope~ And honestly doubt it would be out in half a year (personal judgement and I hope they prove me wrong) since yuriproject (assuming they’re going to create the patch) is finishing the previous two first. Additionally, the game has a heck of a lot more routes than other games it would take even longer
