Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo (その花びらにくちづけを) began as a simple yuri visual novel that features a really light yuri story. It emphasized the soft romance between two girls and quickly became one of a kind in a world dominated by fetishist and heavy materials. It was also one of the firslonging t ecchi visual novel that features purely yuri relationships. Because of its uniqueness, it soon gained widespread popularity not only within the niche, but among many anime fans.
Following the success of the first game, Sono Hanabira quickly expanded into a series of games that all cater to the sweet fluffy side in us. Since its humble beginning, the visual novel series has also prompted several associated artworks, light novels, drama CDs, an artbook, and even an anime adaptation.
Impeccably complemented by Peko’s gorgeous artwork, Sono Hanabira is definitely one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.

In the introduction to Reo-ppoi Radio episode 35, Anzu Hana greets her fans in many countries after receiving fan mail from across the world. She invites you to send in yuri-related phrases in your native language to discuss on the air. Note that this is unrelated to Yurin Yurin, so I would not advise using Reo-ppoi Radio to call for localization at this time.

They are not opposed to the fan translations becoming official releases, but they cannot recognize them, either. Please continue to show your support for an English license of Fuguriya and Yurin Yurin’s works.

A short bonus story, “What if a Yuri Couple from St. Michael’s Bumped into a Senior Couple at an Open Air Bath?” has been added to Xenocross Volume 4 and the Volume 2-5 compilation. This short story was distributed freely to accompany the light novel Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Nukumori ni Kurumarete (ぬくもりに包まれて Enveloped by Warmth)* at Comiket 81 and for a limited time at Fuguriya’s website. This story takes place during that light novel as Mai and Reo encounter Shizuku and Eris during their bath in a public bath house. This translation has been added at no additional cost.
* This is a preliminary translated title and is not to be taken officially.

This is a coincidence and I am very pleased with the fortunate timing of the extra volume’s translation.
I’m thinking of starting another fan fiction (I’m that guy who wrote the Valentine’s Mai x Reo one if you don’t remember) but can’t really decide on what pair to focus on this time. Anyone have suggestions? No Shizuku x Erisu please since I can’t quite characterize them well enough without any English translations. I wouldn’t mind doing Mai x Reo again either since they’re my favorite pair, but I thought I should switch it up a bit.

The Yuuna x Nanami pair definitely is under appreciated. and in fact, I honestly didn’t even consider them when trying to think of what to write about next. Now that I think about it though, Nanami’s delusions do sound like fun to write about. The only problem is that I can never tell what in the world Yuuna is thinking when she isn’t thinking about sex… Well, I’ll see if I can come up with anything.
Actually, what would even better is if someone could give me both a pairing AND a situation or event that might be interesting (and plausible) for them to be in.

I would personally like to see a story that explores their childhood. Kaede and Sara are unique in that they have a history going back to the first grade at the earliest, but the years between then and the timeframe of the visual novels has yet to be expanded on.

That was my first instinct upon seeing the girl on the left. I suppose it’s just similarity in design (not really), and that she’s put next to Nanami, who we know has a bunch of named friends.

If this gallery is indicative of the new game, I wonder if the new story with the new couple will integrates all the other characters at a level we have not seen in earlier V.N’s.

So I was doing alot of reading, and from what it looks like there will not be an oversea release, and fan subbing will be banned.

You’re mistaken. We made a recommendation not to translate this particular release until further notice, and if it is successful, then Yurin Yurin will consider partnerships with other companies. They have taken a neutral stance on the fan translations, meaning that if sales meet or exceed expectations, there is a good chance we will move forward with the licensing negotiations. There is hope as long as enough people support Yurin Yurin and help Fuguriya’s experiment reach a positive conclusion.

I don’t think there is a translation floating around, but I may wrong.
I have to say, I see absolutely zero benefit to licensing. None whatsoever. All it does is needlessly complicate things. Everything I’ve heard of Fuguriya suggests they don’t care one whit about the overseas market. And why should they? It’s a Japanese product made for Japanese people. The fact they don’t mind the current translations should say a lot about how little they care about foreigners.
People here can buy the games, if they really wanted to. And they can buy the next game, if they want to. Everything was fine the way it was.
The goal of the fan translation patches has always been to increase exposure for pure yuri. Fuguriya provides a unique product that I believe has potential in the English market. Enabling the visual novels to be sold on more visible channels will grant more exposure than the fan translations are capable of, which in turn can lead to increased demand, international demand, for products in the vein of Fuguriya and Yurin Yurin’s range. If you believe Fuguriya is apathetic to the overseas market, perhaps another company will appear that is more willing to cater to them.
Well problem is market as we see, vn companies have hard to throw products oversee basicaly cos of lack of popularity, and way their goods are shown in mass media. Commonly said anime style is taken as product for childrens, and thats hard to overcome, superstisions does there work. Sec think American comics(there are good as well, but not highlighted) are kinda backstabing VN, especcialy 18+, in that case yuri is much harder to exposure in good light. Its no wonder Fuguriya and other companies are sceptic, risk is way 2 hi.
Nah, Anime art style is everywhere these days, including adult themed. VN just is a really niche genre outside of Asia. Look on Steam, there is only one VN I can think of (Analogue, which comes recommended by the way) while there are even more danmaku games. And quite a few companies that tried making a living out of just translating eroge went the way of the dodo.
That “uniqueness” of the series is what will hinder it from selling. Since the Visual Novel fan base overseas is pretty much nonexistent, Yuri games are like a niche of a niche. Most people who will buy it will be the ones who are already aware of the series. Jast usually localizes somewhat more popular titles so it might help. But look at this interview regarding MangaGamer and Overdrive regarding the gains from localizing VNs.

Sales are just bleak. Not to mention both Shuffle and Koihime Musou both have anime adaptions for public awareness. It’s great of you to try to expand the VN fanbase, but just don’t expect much.
I believe that anyone who is willing to pay for titles like these will do so if given an opportunity to do it legally. We will not know for sure if this is the case for Sonohana unless we give it a chance, and it’s one I simply cannot resist.

So, I’m not sure how much of this is rumor and how much is true but I’ve heard the next Sono Hanabira game is supposed to feature Madoka and Homura look-alikes.

Install winrar. Then right click on the files and find extract to folder. Voilà!
Open the files using winrar and unless you are running your computer on Japanese local (or w/e it’s called) than you will need to rename the folder with japanese text. You can rename them what ever you want it’ won’t effect the game. (you only have to rename the folder the game is in once extracted anything else in side the folder won’t have this problem, just run the exe.)

My Otakon panel was a success. After making major adjustments to my presentation format at the advice of a veteran presenter, I got a much better reaction from the audience and conducted it much more efficiently than before. With further refinements and the impending Yurin Yurin release, I can definitely predict that I will repeat it next year.

Fuguriya announced two new CDs for release at Comiket 82 on 11 August.
The first is a new drama CD, Kaede-chan Niizuma Cooking 楓ちゃんの新妻クッキング. This is the reward for Kaede for winning the fourth SHK Election.
The second is an Anzu Hana album, Junshin na Hana Uranai 純真な花うらない. The concept of an album featuring Reo’s music has been discussed for some time in Reo-ppoi Radio.

Music Box of Memories chapter 3 is now available in Xenocross.
Mai and Reo have taken a vacation from filming to visit the former’s grandmother. On the way back to Omaezaki, they are caught in a violent storm and subsequently shipwrecked. With Reo’s mother’s ship in ruins, they find themselves on an uninhabited island with limited supplies and no way of contacting the others. They have only each other to rely on while the crew in Omaezaki frantically organize their search and rescue. Meanwhile, Mei Ling’s medical condition is cause for concern for Yuuna and a number of her associates.

The CG packs are simply all images from the game in a zip file, just for people who want to look at those without playing. They are neither required nor useful to playing the visual novel. Here’s a walkthrough: Unless you are playing the 7th (don’t know about 9 and 10), always pick the first option and you’ll get to the full ending. And for the 7th, just act spineless and groveling and Runa’ll be happy.

hey for some reason Hanabira 10 is not working for me
when i download it and open it, it says there’s something wrong with the Data in the game folder so is the file messed up? or do i need to download something to fix that?

Try copy and pasting all the files into a new folder. That usually fixes this problem.
Also, no English patch as of yet, and I don’t know of any group working on it. (I could be wrong about the latter.)

Quick question about these beta patches. When the full patch comes out how will it affect beta patched versions? Does it just overwrite the old patch or do we have to reinstall everything?
The beta patch is functionally identical to the normal patches, but I cannot guarantee compatibility with the finished product. It is likely that the betas will be compatible with the final version, but regardless I recommend backing up your program files or installing the beta patch on a copy.

It works. And it has been explicitly mentioned on the download page that all choices after the second branch or so are untranslated (not the dialog mind you, just the choice boxes)

The character chart is particularly interesting. Rena seems to be Nanami’s teacher! Should be fun to see her in the mix. Also, did Runa get taller? I’ve gotten that feeling since the ninth, but next to Takako, she looks like a high schooler or even older.
If you look closely at Risa, Reo, and Runa’s shoes, you’ll see that the straps have buckles. These shoes appear to have elevated heels.

This image is reminiscent of the Comiket 81 extra volume, in which Mai and Reo encounter Shizuku and Eris at a public bath house during the events of Nukumori ni Kurumarete (ぬくもりに包まれて). Here, Reo is trying to incant a spell to reduce the size of Eris’ breasts after Eris offhandedly pointed out how small Reo’s are.
People tend to make this scene to be more than it is. To me, it looks completely platonic, and AXYPB is totally right. Not all situations with nudity is sexual. ^ ^

Wow for real? She’s my favourite voice actress since somehow she appears in every anime (now visual novel) that I like (Kore wa Zombie Desu ka, Gokujyo, K-On, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou and Seitokai Yakuindomo). She is really amazing, look at the variety of the roles she can play.
A little note: she doesn’t seem to mind shoujo-ai one bit huh? Through her roles in anime and now this series. And I’m impressed that Fuguriya can get her into their cast.

This is incorrect. Shizuku is voiced by 未瑛, but I cannot find a reliable transliteration of this name. Runa is voiced by Ueda Kouhime 上田幸姫. Kitamura Eri voiced Kaori in Hanahira.

I’m going to need definitive evidence for these claims before I update my information. In any case, I will continue to use these assumed names in the translations.
My opinion is the same as AXYPB, for the first time ever. I could not find the essence of Youko’s voice in Shizuku at all. No. Seriously.
Unless there is/are evidence(s) besides wiki pages, I cannot accept Miei is the pseudo-name of Hikasa Youko.
Like I said, I don’t consider this to be true yet, but I don’t discount the possibility either. In any case, this issue isn’t really important. If they did do voice acting jobs for SH, why would it matter, anyway? If they used pseudonyms, then wouldn’t that mean that they don’t want to be recognized? Let’s just keep it that way. I was just doing my little investigation for my own pleasure. No need to change any staff credits even if it turns out to be true.

I wouldn’t discount the possibility though, especially since some big voice actors DO use pseudonyms when working on eroge. Names I could mention are Jun Fukuyama (Houdenirappa),who voiced both Lelouch from Code Geass and Maou from G-Senjou no Maou, Satomi Koroogi (Haruka Kawai), who voiced Ushio from Clannad and Kanon Azai from G-Senjou, and Ryouko Ono (Nazuna Gogyou), who voiced Kaede. Anyway, I need to confirm this by litening to their roles later. Holy crap, I just got all excited about this.

So I just finished Sono Hanabira 6 with the beta translation. Having not like Yuuna and Nanami in the first one too much I expected to dislike this one but surprisingly I loved it.
One little disappointment though, I excpected it to be about 50 minutes longer than it was. Clocked in at 4 hours and 5-10 minutes as opposed to SH2 being about 5 hours 10 and SH 4 being about 4 hours 55.
As for the beta, I noticed a few typos and a couple instances of a missing word but I ****ed up and forgot to save those points *facepalm* I’m sure they’ll be reported anyway but it was great as is.
As per usual, massive thanks to everyone involved in the translation patch. You guys/girls are awesome ^_^

Hi, I was wondering if Maidens of Michael just had more appearences of the other couples or is it some joint visual novel? From all these pictures and talk about it appeared to have more appearances. Is this true, or are the couple appearances just being highlighted on?
It’s not yet known how much influence the original couples will have in this visual novel. They are all featured in equal measure on the website with an emphasis on cross-couple platonic interactions, so they are assumed to have some significant impact on Risa and Miya’s story.
This discussion begs too the question of the new visual novel’s length. It’s a curious speculation for now. ^ ^
I can only assume it’s going to be much longer than the original games, considering it has the presence of all couples, with H-scenes for each of them, plus the new couple, this game is bound to have a few more hours than the previous ones.
Also, if someone decides to do it, is it possible for a fan translation to happen? Or can it not happen with this visual novel?
Fans can always translate on their own. The issue is whether it’d be ok to distribute here. 🙂
I fully expect this game to be translated, just like all the rest. This game might be the best one yet. It simply MUST to be translated!!!
With a concentrated group effort from the previous translators, it will be worked on throughout 2013 and hopefully released before the end of the year.
Please remember that because of my involvement in a prospective licensing deal, I must recommend against creating a translation patch for it until Yurin Yurin makes a final decision on an international release. This will not be until their second release well into 2013 or beyond.
I should make my stance on fan translations clear as well. My policy regarding this page is that I will link to or upload any fan translation until an official source (or its liaison or someone speaking on its behalf) asks me to remove them. As for translation projects, I am not involved.

Next year I’m guessing. 6 and 8 are still in beta and binding resources and the translation of 10 hasn’t even started yet. Still, they are fan translations. Someone with enough time might show up and it’s done in a few weeks like it was the case with 6. Or everybody is busy with other stuff and it might take forever. Impossible to say for sure.

Fuguriya announced in a news post on 9 October 2012 that they are involved in a crossover with a commercial yuri game entitled Starlight Resonance. This is a “school romance action battle” game with beat-em-up elements and Reo will make a guest appearance, presumably as a playable character. Fuguriya is asking readers to submit ideas for her special attack. However, the website for Starlight Resonance is completely inaccessible to non-Japanese visitors, so this may prove difficult to fans outside of Japan. Also, Fuguriya will continue producing doujin material independently of Yurin Yurin and will not be absorbed into them as previously thought.
The most important point to take away is that Fuguriya and Yurin Yurin’s clout is such that one of their characters can make a major cameo appearance in another company’s product. Combined with Maidens of Michael’s many magazine appearances and consistently enthusiastic response for it in Japanese conventions, their growth since 2006 is truly commendable.
Reo in a battle game ? I hope she’ll have specials technics involving chair and throwing desk :3

Well, this is another scene of SonoHana that wasn’t showed, so I decided to make a video of it, just like I did with “Kaede and Sara’s Chidhood”.
It’s from The Joy of Loving You, when Reo says that as reward for being good at math’s test, she wants to go out on a date with Mai, and then Mai starts to think about many kinds of dates.
Unfortunately, this is a low quality audio and I really sorry about that.
If someone remembers of any situation of SonoHana that the visual novels didn’t show, please tell me. Maybe we can make more videos like this. I have to admit, it’s kinda funny to do it.

I learned something that really cool.
Some of the voices of the Sono Hanabira games were in the sequel to Bible Black, titled “Bible Black – The Infection”
Ayaka Izumi (Voice of Mai Sawaguchi) played the role of Kurumi Imari
Yumi Haruna (Voice of Nanami Oda) played the role of Reika Kitami
And Anzu Hana (Voice of Reo Kawamura) played the minor role of Ayumi Murai
I’ve done a lot of research and apparently it’s true. I checked out the ending credits to see of the kanji matched, and they did. So I’m glad to see that two of my most favorite h-series have the same seiyu! If you haven’t played “BB – The Infection” go try it! To be honest, I recognized Ayaka Izumi’s and Anzu Hana’s voice by hearing them, I didn’t recognize Yumi Haruna’s voice because it sounding very masculine.
Hm… Interesting. I suppose they all had a lot of good experience within the visual novel circles. ^ ^

Character voice samples for A Kiss For The Petals – Maidens of Michael have been posted on Yurin Yurin’s website. Of interest are the voices for Risa, Miya, Rena, and Nanami.
I’ve listened to the voices and, I like them. Its just Yuuna, Mai and Reo sound different. Do they have the voice actresses or is ti just me.
There supposed to be different where the is in the 3rd sentence.
I really hate Nanami’s new voice. I have absolutely nothing good to say about it, and If the game doesn’t have the option to mute certain characters, I’ll hack it and fix that myself.

Nanami had different voice actresses in the first and sixth games, and I didn’t notice until I did some research. You’d think they could find a more similar voice for this game.
While it doesn’t annoy me enough to mute, it’s a bit jarring that her voice is so different. Might turn the volume down because of the high pitch.

After a quick listen, while I don’t hate Nanami’s voice, I also do not like that the voices are not the same as the previous games. Consistency is pretty important. I seriously think that Fuguriya should stick to Yasaka Nana as replacement for Nanami’s voice. The new seiyuu’s voice seriously not even close to Haruna Yumi’s voice, imo.
I don’t have a strong preference—both are lovely—but I would like there to be a consistent voice actress.

A Kiss For The Petals – Maidens of Michael is available internationally at J-List. The price is currently $130.00, not including shipping.
In the event that JAST USA obtains an English license for this release, those who purchase the visual novel from J-List will receive a free download code for the English version, as was the case with My Girlfriend is the President.
$130 plus shipping for a little-known Yuri game when most AAA titles go for a maximum of about $60!? Heck, that’s almost half the cost of a brand new console! And I was really hoping to support the release too…
Note that the usual price of games in Japan is 8800 yen ($88) or above. Maidens of Michael retails in Japan for 9240 yen ($93). Most localized AAA visual novels sell for the American game standard of $60. In Japan, everything is ridiculously pricey, so that’s one. Another thing is that J-List has outrageously high prices for imported goods.
Just a question, is anyone besides J-List distributing this internationally? J-List can sometimes be a little pricey indeed. (I’m basing this on their artbooks and figures, of which there are many others with much more reasonable pricing.)
I’m not aware of any other stores that offer this visual novel for non-Japanese customers. This link was shared directly to me, so I passed it on here. If I learn of other such places, I will post them here as well.
As such, I ask that you remove the pre-order link and replace it with the J-List link. The former has since been deleted and I will update you on other stores, hopefully with more attractive prices, as I find them.

I you are going to have and play the pirated version of it please do not bluntly say “Why pay for something you can get absolutely free?” because in reality,it is not a freeware. Just finished installing the new hanabira series (by downloading,sorry everyone I try to buy it but can’t afford to ><) the installment has a new better view, and when you start the game, it has the commercial video as opening xD

Any chance we could see a torrent? DL’s are extremely cumbersome, and not all people will have the right software to join .rar files. And if it’s the privacy thing, you could always password-encrypt the .rar or .zip, and distribute the password here, if only to ensure any leeches who don’t go to this site (i.e.: people from AnimeSharing, HongFire, etc.) can’t access the files and redistribute it themselves, which is the main problem of limited torrent distros.

Glad to see Fuguriya@YurinYurin modified the user interface for HanaMika. All these years they have been using the same game engine as BloomHandle’s releases without making any changes to it. Newly modified GUI in HanaMika just great to me.
It seems that this work really marks a definitive step in the visual novel scene, and a shift away from the doujin circles. (At least for the direction of the Sono Hanabira franchise.)
You should play some of BloomHandle’s visual novels. Mostly they are normal VNs, which means they are more focused on Boy-Girl relationship rather than yuri relationship, though some of it had some essence of yuri as sub-theme or sub-route in it. Also noted that most of BloomHandle’s VNs have Peko as their illustrator.
I should! I’ll give them a look once this rush of exams and papers and research is over. ^ ^

Hm… That’s an odd problem. I have not heard of this before. One suggestion is make sure you have administrative settings set, so you can make changes. Hope you get it to work.

I’ve noticed that about Reo before, even in the earlier games. She always gives off that vibe. Not sure about Yuuna though. ^ ^
Yes, Yuuna does indeed use “watakushi” now. I was surprised myself when I first heard it. She uses “watashi” in previous games.
That’s kind of cute, but I have a soft spot for Yuuna. Anything she does I find cute, even the questionably unsavory things.

I can totally understand why they put that price on the newest game. The amount of content is astonishing. And it´s pretty damn funny and embarassing to hear Sara talking dirty to the other three and boasting about Kaede. I would´ve absolutely bought the game if I had the money and experience of shipments from over seas. Unfortunately I had to leech…Forgive me my sins holy Mary.
Ahem, as said, the game is great, recomended. The only bad things I experienced (or should I say drawbacks?), is the “moe-fication” of the characters, and some of the newer/more high pitched voices (Risa, Nanami, Yuuna). For me it felt a bit wrong at first. They just, uuuuh, looked so…young? and …pure? Ahhhh I dunno. Anyway, if you CAN buy it, the buy it and support the crators and the company. If you CAN´T and your only choice is to leech, then I totally understand.

I think Peko’s style (at least in the Sono Hanabira franchise) has indeed become more moe-fied. Compare, for example, Yuuna and Nanami in the first to Erisu and Shizuku years later. The latter couple exhibit more rounded faces and such. The art book is also another good illustration: Mai and Reo on the cover look slightly different from their initial appearances.
On the price, it is pretty high, but it is within reason. And I should note that I was unfair to J-List in the comment above. They did not mark this visual novel up a lot from its prices in Japan. J-List has it at 130 USD, and it is sold for around 118 USD in Japan.
