Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo | A Kiss for the Petals Series

Updates – Due to my inability to continue managing this page, I will not be updating this page anymore. Comments will be kept open, but I will not likely be addressing them.

Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo (その花びらにくちづけを) began as a simple yuri visual novel that features a really light yuri story. It emphasized the soft romance between two girls and quickly became one of a kind in a world dominated by fetishist and heavy materials. It was also one of the firslonging t ecchi visual novel that features purely yuri relationships. Because of its uniqueness, it soon gained widespread popularity not only within the niche, but among many anime fans.

Following the success of the first game, Sono Hanabira quickly expanded into a series of games that all cater to the sweet fluffy side in us. Since its humble beginning, the visual novel series has also prompted several associated artworks, light novels, drama CDs, an artbook, and even an anime adaptation.

Impeccably complemented by Peko’s gorgeous artwork, Sono Hanabira is definitely one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.

  1. AXYPB says:

I think for the English patch of the first novel, it would be better to link directly to CountPacula’s page for it instead of a comment.

  2. Swordwind says:

I was waiting for this to happen. Thanks for your work!

  3. AXYPB says:

I also suggest linking to the light novels and the available translations at Wings of Yuri and we define useless. If you want to include the three drama CDs, I uploaded a lossless torrent at Deadfrog with covers.

    • Yi says:

@AXYPB: Thanks. I’ll try to get those up soon.

    • Yi says:

@AXYPB: Thanks for the links. The light novels have been added. I tried to get the three drama CDs, but the torrent seems dead.

      • AXYPB says:

        I’m reseeding now.

        • AlxIX says:

          um.. hello,
i have a request, can you please reseed the drama CD torrents? i will be very grateful if you do
          thanks..

        • Yi says:

Alternatively, there are direct downloads on this page. You might find those more helpful.

        • AlxIX says:

I’m actually looking for the lossless ones.. I’ve downloaded everything i don’t have in this page.. but i still crave for more..

ah i forgot.. thanks for your hard work Yi.. yuri is the best thing ever in universe 😀

        • Yi says:

Ah I see I see. Sorry I can’t help you there since I don’t have the lossless versions.
Maybe if someone else can help with this…

        • AlxIX says:

it’s ok.. the download has gone up to 6%..
it would certainly be better if there are more people seeding it though, its always unstable..

    • MyHatsOffToYou says:

I tried the torrent, but there’s seriously small amount of people that the progress might take several weeks (in term of hours). Though I appreciate your effort, but is there a faster way to get these? (like megaupload or something, but I understand the files are HUGE)

  4. Mira says:

Ah if it helps you can use the stuff from my blog ❤

    • Yi says:

@Mira: I’ll definitely do that, especially for the drama CDs. ^ ^ Thank you so much.

I’m also adding your link to my links pages.

  5. Agent XYZ says:

Thanks a bunch for this, man. I’ve been a fan of the series ever since I found the second one, and now, coming back to them, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that there are a ton of them…

Anyway, can’t wait for the translations.

  6. Swordwind says:

I figured I’d post the troubleshooting guide preemptively.

    For XP:
Control Panel–> Date, Time, Language & Regional Options –> Regional & Language Options –> Standards & Format.

Open the box and switch it to “Japanese”. If Japanese isn’t an option, make sure you’ve installed “East Asian Language Packs.”

This should work. You may need to take an additional step, if it doesn’t automatically change:
Control Panel-> Date, Time, Language & Regional Options –> Regional & Language Options ->Advanced->Language for Non-unicode Programs to “Japanese” in the drop down box.

After this, you may generally revert the 1st step to your native settings, if you so desire.

    Windows 7:
Control Panel -> Change Display Language -> Administrative -> Change System Locale for non Unicode programs to Japanese.

Run in compatibility mode for XP (generally unnecessary for later games).

    Hope this helps.

    • Yi says:

@Swordwind: As always, thanks for your continued help.

Anyways, I think you suggested a page like this a long time ago, but I was just too lazy back then. I finally got some time recently to make this, and you’ve really helped out a lot with most of the links. Thank you so so much. ^ ^

      • Swordwind says:

Well, this is just a copy/paste of the best one that I already posted.

I think most people appreciate this page, Yi.

  7. AXYPB says:

I have another suggestion. I want to use this page as an overview page so I can give people a link to it as a recommendation. I suggest writing a short paragraph describing the series as a whole at the top and a quote from your reviews under each visual novel entry.

  8. Tsukimori says:

Tsundere has officially dropped 3. We are now taking it into our hands (not that anything was done,) and will officially announce it prior to the release of 7’s patch.

    • AXYPB says:

Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo Artworks
      Yuri Illustration Collection
68 pages, full color; exclusive art
Suggested price of 1400 yen excluding tax
Release on 7/30 to all doujin storefronts

Strangely, this announcement did not come with a new post in the news section. If you look at the second image, the breast size chart has been updated. Poor Reo loses out to Runa by 1cm. Also notice that there’s no information on the new couple in the preview material.

    • Yi says:

@AXYPB + Swordwind: I have been waiting for this to come out for years. 1400 yen for a 68 page artbook is a catch. I’m so excited for this, even more so than the other artbook by Peko focused on Mayoi Neko.

Runa beat out Reo… I always thought Runa is loliest of them all.

“Also notice that there’s no information on the new couple in the preview material.”
      Rumor after all… 😦

Thanks for the information. I will probably make a post for it soon.

    • Yi says:

Thanks! The cards look really cute. Love the one with tanned Mai especially.

p.s. It’s such a nice coincidence that you and @jantp27 always inform me the same Hanabira news at roughly the same time.

It’s so great to be able to be updated from two really reliable sources. Honestly, without you, I’d be in the dark with most of this stuff.

  9. AXYPB says:

I took a look at /u/ this morning and someone expressed interest in translating one of the games, particularly the second and fourth. I suggested the fourth and posted everything the prospective translator needs in an attachment. Here’s hoping that they’ll follow through.

  10. AXYPB says:

A new light novel was announced at Peko’s blog. Strangely, it was not posted at Fuguriya’s site.

  11. Swordwind says:

MakiMaki is considering translating Hanabira 8:

    http://www.makimakimanga.com/index.php

    Vote, vote, vote.

  12. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya announced the new light novel and the remake of the third game today. They still haven’t posted any new bulletins.

    • Yi says:

Still waiting hopelessly for an announcement on the new couple.

The remake looks like it would have new CGs! Or it might just be a new cover art.

      • AXYPB says:

Everything is being posted according to the order on the bulletin dated 17 March. First came Peko’s artbook, then the series artbook, now the remake. The latter were delayed, but they eventually came around. The only unexpected announcement is the new light novel. I can only hope the announcement of the new pair will come during or shortly after Comiket.

        • Swordwind says:

I think Axy’s right again. I’m quite sure that the news on the new couple has just been delayed a bit. They’re probably a bit busy right now.

        • Yi says:

I’ve also noticed a huge delay recently with their official website. I guess a release of 9 in the near future isn’t so far-fetched. Lovely!

  13. Yi says:

Updated the page’s brief synopsis and added the newer release announcements. Once I get the Drama CD’s up, this page should be complete with all the information on Sono Hanabira series.

Btw, should I do chronological order (1,2,3…), or reverse chronological order (9,8,7…)?

  14. ShouTakuya says:

Is the visual novel a game rip?

  15. AXYPB says:

I checked the release dates of the upcoming material and noticed a pattern. Everything announced thus far will be released on 30 July (tomorrow) or 14 August (during Comiket). The previous game was announced on 3 February, roughly two weeks before release on 12 February. The seventh was announced on 3 December 2009 and released 12 December 2009. The window between the release of the OVA, artbook, and the digital version of the remake and that of the next light novel and the disc version of the remake is about two weeks apart. Perhaps in that time we’ll see another announcement.

    • Verdure says:

Wow, good detective work. But they really release a game merely 9 days after announcing it? Crazy.

      • AXYPB says:

The seventh game was released on 12 December 2009 and its corresponding light novel was released that Christmas day. The eighth game’s novel was released on 25 February 2010, about two weeks after its release on 12 February 2010. The tenth light novel is to be released two weeks after the OVA. If we’re lucky, perhaps an eleventh light novel will follow the ninth game shortly after.

        • Yi says:

If there’s a ninth game featuring new couples, there almost certainly will be another light novel released simultaneously. At least, that seems to be the trend with 7 and 8.

I’m really impressed by how many releases Fuguriya packed in these months.

  16. ShizukuErisuFan says:

Hi, I’m @Yukaru00/Yukaru. Well, I don’t really mind if you wanna mirror the links for my translation; at least inform me first =.=
    Thanks anyway.

    • Yi says:

Oh, I do apologize for that. I couldn’t find a contact information for you over at we define useless nor find a page that announced the release. I actually found the translations from another Hanabira fansite. I hope you don’t mind.

Thank you so much for the translations.

p.s. Send you an email to the address from the comment.

      • ShizukuErisuFan says:

It’s ok. It’s not like I’m mad or something. Well, you can always contact me through myanimelist.net if you have an active account.
        Username: Yukaru00.

I have released my own version of the OVA subtitle script. Sorry that I couldn’t provide you all with encoded video with subs, I got some technical problems that I could only upload the .ass scripts.

Check the download link at Sono Hanabira fanclub page at myanimelist.net.
If you do not mind it, you can post the sub file in your blog. ^^

      • Yi says:

Sure. I’ll do that. Thanks for the sub file. ^ ^

  17. Swordwind says:

    Raaaws are out

  18. JDMakoto says:

    I need to watch it!
I’m looking all over the internet and I can’t find them, do any of you guys know where can I get the OVAs, I don’t mind if they’re Raw.

    Best Regards.

  19. JDMakoto says:

Just finished watching the OVA, and I think its OK, very nice animation, remarkable eyes design, and overall nice OST . It satysfied my expectations, there’s a second one right? Anyways, thanks again Swordwind for the links, have a good day!

    Best Regards
P.S:I love it when I get to understand full phrases in Raw versions, especially because my Japanese sucks…at the moment, I hope haha…

  20. xX777Xx says:

Thanks a lot Yi :D. This really help me a lot XD. Btw good luck everyone at translating the game ^ ^.

  21. Zeffy101 says:

I hope this game eventually gets Translated!!! i cant wait for it.. i haven’t been able to understand the other games because its in RAW (Japanese) but.. never fear i am able to wait. Things take time, and your the ones doing “us” a favor by doing this! 😛 I’m really glad.. not a lot of Yuri/Yaoi Animes/Games are available so its difficult to find these.

I really wanna thank you guys and girls for doing these projects 🙂 😀 Good job and well done!

    regards zeffy101

    • Yi says:

There are plenty of groups working on different games right now. I think we’ll probably get a rush of translations sometime in the future when they all get done around the same times. I’m looking forward to their releases as well!

  22. Tsuchiya says:

Is this pic from the Hanabira 3 remake?Because I don’t see this scene in the game =.=

  23. Kuronin says:

ok, so i saw a post about Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Anata to Koibito Tsunagi from Raze on Fakku, did some searching and found you. all i have to say is, although censored, it is the best, finely animated, tasteful yuri iv seen to date. i just wanted to tell you Yi, that you are my hero for having it in a fast and convenient place and format for me to download and enjoy.

    once again, thank you…..

    Kuronin

  24. AXYPB says:

Peko made an announcement regarding Comiket 78. The new light novel will be available along with very limited stock of the artbook and the previous three light novels. Unfortunately, no mention of the new couple was made. Since they weren’t mentioned here, it doesn’t look like we’ll see them any time soon. Maybe next Comiket.

    • Yi says:

Looks like no new couple anytime soon. 😦
On the other hand, C78 is already bringing a lot of things to the table, so that’s always nice.

      • Swordwind says:

        Shame.

Also, Yi, regarding your twitter, Gladwell is a bit of a spaz.

        • Yi says:

I didn’t think anyone reads my tweets outside of Twitter.

Anyways, I’m enjoying the book though. It’s got some really fascinating ideas.

        • Swordwind says:

I don’t use Twitter, so I can’t read your tweets anywhere but outside of Twitter.

He wrote that one quite well, but he is probably the worst sufferer of complete confusion of correlation to be so popular.

        • Yi says:

I meant that I didn’t think non-Twitter users would follow my tweets.

Anyways, maybe that’s why I’m enjoying him. I’m also often guilty of correlating two things that really have no relevance at all and drawing faulty conclusions. Haha. ^ ^

        • Swordwind says:

I know what you meant, Yi.

And I haven’t seen you do anything of the sort. That book is simply wrote in an engaging manner. He addresses interesting topics, he just isn’t very sensible with his conclusions.

  25. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya finally updated their news feed. It mostly reflects the earlier announcement by Peko regarding this Comiket. In previous Comikets, Fuguriya released omake mini novels for those who patronize their corner and on their website for a short time. The next chapter is “Mai & Reo’s Sonohana Radio”. Shizuku and Erisu will make a cameo in that, but the nature of it and the title is left to speculation. This will be the first item in which two couples are featured.

They did not give any reason as to why they haven’t updated in so long, however.

    • AXYPB says:

They also didn’t mention anything of the next game, not even that it was delayed.

    • Yi says:

Sonohana Radio… Sounds like a drama CD type of thing, but I guess we won’t know for sure until later.

Now I’m wondering if the earlier announcement of a new couple was just something I misunderstood, if they dropped it for now, or if it’s simply still in progress.

      • AXYPB says:

The post dated 17 March made it clear that there will be a new pair, but the details are secret. Maybe someone will go to Fuguriya’s corner at Comiket and ask them directly.

  26. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya updated their news feed today. They acknowledged that they have neglected to release any news of the next game and stated that everyone is simply busy with other projects. They will make another announcement about it in September and introduce it in a manner similar to the Reo x Mai Diaries videos prior to release.

  27. Swordwind says:

Apparently, ‘hyarare’ has been translating Hanabira 8 (he claims to be as far as 50% completed). Cool, right?

He (an assumption, possibly mistaken) has offered his contact information for twitter & soup (under the same user name).

    • AXYPB says:

Let them now I am willing to do all technical work involving script insertion and graphic replacement if needed. p4s has been a great help in my own project, so I’m sure I’ll have his support here as well.

    • Yi says:

      That’s awesome news!

      • Swordwind says:

I don’t have accounts on either of those sites.

        • Yi says:

I followed him on Twitter, but the thing with Twitter is that it’s very hard to track an exact tweet, especially when it’s mixed in with lots of replies and other personal life stuff.

  28. Swordwind says:

    That’s a shame.

I was attempting to say that it’d be difficult for me to let him know anything, as I don’t have the means to contact him.

  29. Yi says:

    Vote on this!

    Thanks go to AXYPB!

    • AXYPB says:

I think I’m going to change the translated subtitle. On the announcement page, I’ll leave a link to English DLsite in the tradition set by CountPacula. That page lists it as “My Dear Prince“. A post on Fuguriya’s announcement page dated 5 July 2007 semi-endorses this. I’m also trying to work out a layout to get both titles in one image, but I can’t find a good compromise.

    • Yi says:

It looks like translation is edging out, which doesn’t surprise me. “A Kiss for the Petals” makes a lot more sense to non-Japanese speaking folks.

It’d be nice to somehow find a compromise for both though.

      • AXYPB says:

However the final product turns out, I at least want to have the Japanese writing somewhere alongside the main title if possible. So far I haven’t yet found a good layout for that. I showed something similar to the team working on the seventh game several months ago, but I’m not completely satisfied with a title with only English letters. In any case, I want to standardize the logo for later games in the series if other translation teams would be so kind before we end up with three debated translations for a single title.

    • AXYPB says:

I decided to render it yet again. This is the cleanest I think I’m getting. I also decided to forgo the Japanese text as I just couldn’t find a place for it.

  30. J-Chan says:

I may be the only one, but I got a problem with the subbed anime episode. I’ve downloaded it two times now, and both times the video only lasts for maximum 10 minutes, then it doesn’t work anymore. I also tried ”view on megavideo”, but that didn’t work either :/
    Help,please? ^^’

    • Yi says:

I downloaded it and played it with no problem, so yea… I’m not sure what the issue could be. It might be an issue with your player or your codec.

Just to be safe, I linked another mirror on hotfile.

  31. cloe says:

I’m so happy that you guys are translating Sono Hanabira 2. I can’t wait for the release. Sara and Kaede are my favourite couple. I love how Kaede is all negative and doesn’t realize how beautiful she is, and then how Sara transformed her from being zero to hero. Lol I also noticed that Kaede’s like superman, she becomes beautiful when needed! I really hope their doujinshi and drama cd will be translated soon too. If only I know Japanese I’ll try to help too, but too bad I don’t. I’m already thanking you in advance for translating this!=)

    • AXYPB says:

Did you know you’re the first person I’ve seen admit this?

      • Swordwind says:

Your use of the word “admit” makes it seem like you think that we are all secretly harboring an intense love for Sara & Kaede, but acting tsun-tsun towards a translation -.-

      • cloe says:

Really? Maybe because artwise, I find the other couples cute but Kaede and Sara, I find them look more realistic and beautiful =P… Their plot is more emotional too (thanks to Kamyu’s English tranlations on WOY). I really wish you’ll decide to translate Sono Hanabira 4 also.

    • Yi says:

Sara x Kaede do need more love from the Hanabira community… As do Runa x Takako.

  32. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya updated their page with a new all-ages section and a new title called “Hanahira“. And there’s four characters involved. This is definitely different than the previous offerings.

    • AXYPB says:

It will release on 24 September. As for the main series, the next game will continue from the seventh and another drama CD featuring Nanami and Yuuna are in planning.

    • AXYPB says:

If I’m reading the bulletin correctly, a Sonohana game without any H material is something Fuguriya has wanted to do for a long time. The major reason they’re doing so now is that the success of the drama CDs and the Reo/Mai Diaries proved there’s demand for it, as well as countless e-mails asking for such a product. Female fans in particular wanted something that wasn’t explicit that they could play on their family computers and Peko artwork that wasn’t of high school girls. I had no idea.

      • Swordwind says:

        It’s also very… moeblob.

      • Verdure says:

So the seventh game sequel is separate from the non-ero one? And is the sequal supposedly the one that’s supposed to be majorly different from the older games?

        • AXYPB says:

From what I could tell, Hanahira is the new game that was advertised as vastly different. The seventh game sequel is still as ero as promised.

I find it interesting how Fuguriya goes through pains to assure their audience that they’ll never change.

        • Verdure says:

Aww, so no super-awesome harem game, or something crazy involving the ero. Ah well…

      • Yi says:

Best news I’ve read all week! This is certainly drastically different; I’m not sure if many saw this coming.

I’ve really taken a liking to the new more moe style of peko, so this should be nice.

      • AXYPB says:

I just noticed that the Hanahira pages are accessible without a proxy. I wonder if that’s an oversight or a statement.

  33. Izzy says:

heyy, don’t mean to be a pain but when will the translation of the second game be done?

  34. Verdure says:

Has the remake of SH3 been released yet? I remember there being like one announcement about it, that’s it.

  35. EmperorG says:

Hmm, it would appear that there is nothing new to report on this series for the time being, is there? I’m guessing it’s exams week.

    • AXYPB says:

If it makes you feel better, I can say that progress is being made for the second game translation.

    • Yi says:

@EmperorG: Admittedly, I haven’t done much this week in terms of keeping up with updates on this. I’ve been busy with life in Taiwan and catching up with anime. I don’t think there are any official announcements though.

      @AXYPB: Great to hear!!

      • EmperorG says:

No rush necessary at all. The fact that a kind soul is even taking time off his busy schedule every now and then to translate these gems is already a great deed worth praise. Take your time dood, I’ve still got 3 more years of college left before I get an official job and my freedom is taken away from me. 2, 3, 5, 8 (oh yes 8, it doesn’t matter, heck I’ll even go as far as play…..7 if it’s the next one to get subbed. I’m a little sad that there’s no love for neither 6 or 4. I guess since not much happens in either of them, except 4 from what I’ve read in Yi’s review of the Chinese version.

        • AXYPB says:

The fourth game was my introduction to the series. I really want to take the initiative on that, but the only other person who’s shown interest in translating it was an Anonymous on /u/. I provided them with the raw scripts a few months ago and I haven’t heard from them since.

  36. EmperorG says:

It’s all because of Sara mostly. She’s adorably hot and I have a thing for girls who address in 3rd person or call themselves The Koromo. Most of all I’m curious to learn what kind of magic words she used to seduce Kaede the 1st time. Ah, it’s no use discussing the series right now since it’s currently on standby.

  37. AXYPB says:

Translation for the fourth game is officially underway. I have begun correspondence with the translator I found three months ago.

    • EmperorG says:

SWEET! Sara will rock the world with her kawaii speaking ability and cosplay abilities. Many thanks for the update dood.

    • Yi says:

Awesome!! Keep us posted. ^ ^

      • EmperorG says:

Very soon, the glorious wedding scene will be translated into English and I’ll be able to go squee over Kaede and Sara’s vows before going for the biggest soul bonding scene of their two episode career.

      • AXYPB says:

        Consider this a teaser.

        ib.rotbrc.com/eroge/src/1287678609010.png

        • EmperorG says:

This cannot be, I am forbidden from viewing greatness! Why am I forbidden? “Sobs”

        • afkeroge says:

Ah, regarding the translation of the fourth game:
I tried to translate a few lines out from the start of the game and here’s what happened so far:

          紗良と再会してから、ほんの少し刻が過ぎた。
A short while has passed since I got reunited with Sara.

          窓を開けると桜の花びらに代わり、5月の優しい風が舞い込んでくる。
Before I knew it, the gentle wind of May took the place cherry blossom petals coming through the open windows.

          今は聖ミカエル女学園の2年生になってから、1ヶ月くらい経ったホームルーム。
Now, about one month has passed since I became a junior in St. Michael’s All Girls Academy.

          私も日々の学園生活の中で、ようやく上級生としての自覚を持ちつつあった。
At last, I also had consciousness as an upperclassman in my daily school life.
(I used a machine translator for this one with a bit of editing. I understand what it is saying, but I cannot put it into a coherent English sentence (I simply don’t get “consciousness as an upperclassman”).)

          もちろん、紗良の恋人としての自覚も
And of course, as Sara’s lover/girlfriend, too.

        • afkeroge says:

Please correct any errors that I could have made in my translation.

        • AXYPB says:

You don’t need to translate. I already have a translator hard at work on the first part of the script.

If you can’t see the link, try this one.

        • afkeroge says:

          Oh, I see…
Well, I’ll leave it to you, then ^_^

        • Yi says:

          Edited the above comment.

Copy and paste the link to see the teaser image and avoid forbidden message.

@AXYPB: Thank you! And extend my thanks to the translator. ^ ^

  38. EmperorG says:

Alrighty then, the title screen looks great. Will continue waiting patiently as I have been since the announcement.

  39. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya made an announcement today, and a rather large one at that. They will not attend Comiket this December, but Peko’s circle, Luminocity, will. Due to sudden changes in Peko’s schedule this year, they will release the next game in the series as well as the drama CD and the light novel that was already planned. Three items are scheduled for release in December.

The first is the next drama CD, 夢のような日々 “Dreamy Days”, featuring Yuuna and Nanami. I think it’s for the best that this pair’s story continues because of all of the current couples, their characters are the least developed. I’ve also been listening to the drama CDs frequently these days and I’ve come to like them more than the visual novels in a few respects because of their slice-of-life stories and the ability of the characters to speak over each other.

The second is a light novel about Runa and Takako, 二人のゴールテープ “Couple’s Goaltape”. It takes place during St. Michael’s athletic festival in the fall.

The third is the next game in the main series, also with Runa and Takako, あまくておとなのとろけるちゅう “Sweet Adult’s Melting Kiss”. It will continue where the seventh left off, and it appears that Takako is going to take the initiative to advance her relationship with Runa.

Other than synapses of these items and this thumbnail, no other details were given.

  40. EmperorG says:

Oh, okay then, I get it now. I guess I mixed up preschool with primary school and middle school with grade school. In any case, she hit puberty at least.

On an off note, Poor Reo for being the “smallest”, but her awesomeness continues to shine through regardless.

    • AXYPB says:

She must have started puberty by her debut. It’s the only explanation as to why her measurements beat Reo’s.

    • Yi says:

      I can’t imagine Runa as a preschooler… That’s way too uncomfortable.

Also, I’d like to think that Runa’s already past puberty, because it’s kind of awkward to play through it otherwise as well.

      • EmperorG says:

I might sound a bit disturbing for saying this, but I like how Ruuna’s seiyuu says the word “sensei”. It sounds cute coming from her. Am I evil for actually liking Ruuna for her ingenious strategies and spunkiness? I’m talking personality, not appearance.

        • AXYPB says:

On the contrary, I believe there’s a lot to be explored in Runa’s character. Her backstory is the most unique in the series, as she’s the only one with a direct relative who has a history with another major character. The two-sided three-way dynamic (if that makes sense) is something I think about whenever I read about her character.

        • Yi says:

Agreed. I think Runa x Takako might be the most intricate story of all, and in only a single visual novel. Whereas the other pair have fairly straightforward dynamic, these two have a pretty complex backgrounds.

  41. abscissa says:

Wow great stuff for December! Now, I’m just really hoping that there’s going to be a good soul that will translate the drama CDs and light novels.

    • Yi says:

I’m excited for December too!! Though drama CDs and light novels tend to be lower priority, they deserve to be translated too… Well, we can at least hope.

  42. EmperorG says:

@AXYPB: You’re so lucky to be literate in Japanese, unless you ARE Japanese, or a noble Chinese who played the game with the Chinese Patch. Your minor info on Runa’s past has intrigued me more to explore her character once the “you know what” is completed.

  43. Yi says:

Just a quick note on recent updates: Downloads for artbook scans and Chinese patch for Sono Hanabira 8 are up.

Also from a while ago, Hanahira!! downloads and CG are up too.

  44. Rin Tohsaka says:

Wait… there’s a CG set for all the VNs EXCEPT Hanabira 6?!

    THIS IS AN INJUSTICE!

    • AXYPB says:

Not much attention is given to the sixth game. I wonder why.

      • EmperorG says:

Because believe it or not, YuunaNami isn’t that popular. Yes, I’m shocked. Maybe it’s because recently, the yuri nation has become cold-hearted. I don’t know. Why so serious?

        • afkeroge says:

          But I like Yuuna x Nanami… 😦

All the couples have a very, very big space in my heart… so I can’t really rank them now… not after listening to that Drama CD…

THEY ARE ALL EQUALS! THERE SHALL BE NO DISCRIMINATION IN THE YURI NATION! BY THE POWER OF GIRLS’ LOVE, I HEREBY DECLARE-

Damn, I should stop overreacting…. sorry about that.

        • AXYPB says:

My first guess is related to what Yi said:

“As the first pair of the series, Yuuna and Nanami have fairly safe personalities. The onee-sama dynamic has been a bit overdone in yuri media. Given that, they are often the most forgettable of the couples. ”

Whereas the other couples have an unusual factor or character type driving their relationship, Yuuna and Nanami have no such draw. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to the fourth drama CD, as those have been evolving as well, particularly in how they’re told. The first CD is formatted similar to the visual novels, with dialogue and internal monologue taking turns advancing the story, with the exception of the omake track. The second CD is formed with blocks of dialogue broken up with periodic exposition following the first track. The third CD has no narration whatsoever and also has an actual story in multiple parts worth writing in length about, similar to the Reo/Mai Diaries and Hanahira! The fourth CD is looking to follow that mold. I don’t want to neglect the CDs in terms of translations as they have as much merit as everything else in this series, which is why afkeroge has agreed to translate them.

If none of this changes your mind about them, listen to the omake track of the first drama CD.

        • Yi says:

I’m actually very guilty of having skipped out on the drama CD’s…
Looking forward to afkeroge’s translations! Thanks!!

    • Yi says:

That’s my mistake actually… I just never got around to posting a review or an impression or anything about Hanabira 6 for one reason or another. Usually either because I am too busy with real life, have another post drafted, or just plain forgot. And recently, because Fuguriya has been so diligent about new releases, every time I feel like I should revisit Hanabira on this blog, there is already a convenient, more urgent topic for that.

And because I have no post related to it, there hasn’t been a CG set up either. 😦

Anyways, I’ll remember to post something about it soon to uphold justice.

      ______________________________________
Sono Hanabira 6 CG set: Download

      • AXYPB says:

I’ve had a very slight suspicion that the reason the sixth game is overlooked is its timing. The fact that their story did not get a sequel first is probably why those who play the games in order don’t have the time left to write impressions by the time they got to it. There is a possibility that the decision to make the seventh game focus on a student-teacher relationship is just what the series needed to revitalize itself, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

It may seem that I’m implying that Fuguriya intended to respond to perceived staleness by bringing Runa and Takako’s story to the same level as the games, but the fresh change of pace brought about by them certainly helped more people notice the series and current fans to adjust expectations. The original story started in September 2007, well before its visual novel adaptation in December 2009, a full year after the release of the sixth game. I can’t guess how long this plan has been in formation or even if this was intended from the start. Erisu and Shizuku helped even more, albeit in a different way, even though–or perhaps because–they’re probably the safest couple of all as far as the age of consent goes. Third game notwithstanding, Fuguriya seems to treat all of their products with the same esteem, so it’s unfair to say that one game should be more controversial than the rest. That said, it’s even more unfortunate for the games between the first and last three. It’s been observed that the middle part of a trilogy is often the least discussed, and I’m seeing a similar effect here.

Then there’s Hanahira! All things considered, I’m genuinely concerned about its future. I hope that it’s lucky enough to have anywhere near the number of sequels its predecessor has. That should give us plenty of time to translate the games that came before it.

        • Yi says:

I agree and very well said. Actually, before the announcement of the tenth, I was a bit afraid that the two newer couples, or at least Runa x Takako, will not get another story. But it does seem like Fuguriya is being fair to all the couples (except Reo and Mai).

Hanahira!, despite all its cuteness, is branded as a mere side story. Most fans would love the family friendly game, but I don’t know if that’s something that will draw in new fans.

      • Lela says:

People have mentioned ‘extracting the CGs’ — presumably from one of the files included in the release. How is that done? Does anyone know? It’s not that I can’t find the CGs (though I would like to know how they’re extracted), it’s that I’m also looking to see how to extract the sounds from the game. If you have any hints/direction, I’d *very* much appreciate it. I’m familiar with both Linux and Windows and moderately extensive technology skills so I’m sure I’d be able to do it if given the direction. ^-^

        • Yi says:

I’m not too familiar with all of this stuff (kind of bad with computers), but I think maybe AXYPB can help you out. He has worked on patching several translation games, and knows quite a bit about how these games work.

          You can contact him here.

  45. EmperorG says:

Don’t be sorry afkeroge, I’m proud of you for still having that spark that so many in the once proud and powerful yuri nation have lost. Fans like the two of us should stick together so we can try and motivate others to be optimistic and complain a lot less.
So yeah, continue cheering for Yuuna and Nanami. they deserve respect, especially yuuna. Her contributions for other couples such as Sara X Kaede and Ma X Reo are undeniable. Yuuna has definitely made an impact, no matter what nay-sayers will tell us otherwise.

    • afkeroge says:

Yah, I think so too. Fuguriya just played it safe in the first game, but they definitely went an extra mile for the sixth, so I’m really sad that Yuuna and Nanami don’t get the respect that they deserve…

      Anyway:
ALL HAYL YURI (in Wakamoto voice)

      • EmperorG says:

Well, there you go. The top 2 members have heard our cries and responded by granting YuunaNami one more chance at the spotlight. So I guess my inner fears were correct, they’re ignored due to being cliche. However, the new Drama CD will save the day for our lovely pioneers of the Hanabira series.

        • AXYPB says:

Their issue isn’t that they’re cliche, but that they’re overshadowed. I’ve come to like all of the couples as each one offers very different experiences, but the simple fact is that a few of them have proven more likable with the majority.

  46. EmperorG says:

Well said Mr. A, may i call you that? Anyway, you are correct in noticing that they’re easily overshadowed by the other couples who have a fascinating story to tell. Heck, even Runa X Takako are interesting, despite being controversial. Maybe the CD is exactly what the pioneers need in order to make a comeback.

  48. Anime Onsen says:

Thank you, bookmarked this page. The only problem…..which to download first

    • Yi says:

      Hehe, no problem. ^ ^
I would recommend playing them in order, but I don’t think it matter too much.

    • AXYPB says:

If you care about the story, the best points to start are the first three games or the last two games, which are beginnings of each storyline. The first game is the only translated one, so you might want to start with that. The third is the most popular, and the eighth is the second most popular, so those are alternate choices.

  49. Johnny says:

I think it’s better to be able to understand the game… i dont understand chinese, so i only dled the 1st game… i hope i’ll dl the 7th before the end of the year… 🙂

  50. Johnny says:

Little by little, Chinese is more & more learnt in french high school and above, but English remains the 1st taught living language.

    • Yi says:

I see. That’s kind of nice. Anyways, the reason I include Chinese is also because I speak the language and someone else was kind enough to post it somewhere.

  51. Johnny says:

AXYPB, i played the 1st game, it was very good :p :p :p

    • A Visitor says:

I agree. Barring the infamous “golden shower” scene, the first game is fantastic.

      • Yi says:

Am I the only person who didn’t mind (which is to say actually kind of enjoyed) that particular scene?

        • AXYPB says:

It’s one way to express passion and acceptance of a romantic partner’s shortcomings.

        • Enigmatic Paradox says:

In your defence Yi i have to admit that i had no problem with that scene myself and upon first watching it didn’t even quite anticipate Nanami’s shocked response… That is, I half expected (which is to say i probably hoped slightly) that the scene would unfold and progress further from there instead of stopping abruptly.

While i understand that Nanami would clearly have some issues with that sort of behaviour, her reaction when Yunna was clearly enjoying herself did annoy me… Nanami’s reaction was a little funny though

        • Yi says:

I didn’t mind Nanami’s reaction. That was kind of the reaction I was expecting. I can’t actually imaging how it would progress otherwise without becoming kind of just awkward. Anyways, I’m glad I’m not the only one.

        • MyHatsOffToYou says:

Well, even if you don’t like “golden shower”, the way that scene fit into the plot line is still quite good. I don’t believe that scene is out of place.

        • Yi says:

Agreed! I’m glad that scene is appreciated. ^ ^

        • MyHatsOffToYou says:

HAHA, not to be offensive, but the way you said “glad that scene is appreciated” is…… well I have nothing against it, but it’s somehow hilarious ^o^

        • AXYPB says:

As repulsive as many people find them, perhaps they deserve further study.

        • MyHatsOffToYou says:

Well I’m fine with it as long as they’re not overused and gone overboard.

        • Yi says:

Loll. Yea… That does sound a bit weird.

      • A Visitor says:

Is it true there’s a golden shower scene in the seventh game?

  52. Johnny says:

“gloops”… Probably you are… even though this is an important scene (because the game can stop here if u dont got at least 3 good answers/4) and after that u got “Nanami i want to have a baby with u” (on passe du cul au cucul, quoi ! (joke hardly translatable in english))…
It’s a pity u got the sweetest music of the game to follow this scene… despite that, i enjoy the game a lot ! :p :p

    • Yi says:

I think this was also a nice scene because it really gave Yuuna some identity. With this and the earlier self-pleasure scene, Yuuna becomes more than just the everyday elegant perfect-in-every-way oujo-sama. Underneath that facade, there is a surprising side. For that, I really appreciated that scene.

  53. EmperorG says:

It’s kinda sad to read that our latest fan’s most memorable delight from episode 1 is pipi. I guess they wanted an encore. Ah well, to each their own fetish or acceptance of another person’s love I suppose. I dunno, it didn’t freak me out, it just made me laugh at Yuuna because of how awesome she is and it also made me question fetishes.

    • AXYPB says:

I think we should be grateful that that’s as far as it goes.

      • EmperorG says:

Oh but of course comrade “code” (I’m assuming you username is a code). I haven’t reached that far in number 7 and I’ll wait for the translation before I dive into it much deeper. To tell you the truth, I’m a little worried as to whose pipi will be used in that scene (no spoilers please).

    • Yi says:

As I mentioned above, I don’t actually think it’s sad that this is the most memorable delight from Hanabira 1. Without it, there really isn’t much to set Yuuna apart from being a yuri cliche.

Anyways, for me, I’m actually not that much of a urination fetish fan. It’s more the humiliation factor that was kind of fun to watch unfold.

  54. Johnny says:

About spoils, u can see them in CG’s… Well… “du cul et du cucul” !

    • EmperorG says:

I don’t care about the CGs so I haven’t seen them yet. Besides, it ruins my mood having the 99% male marketing ploy being spoiled without getting to that part while playing the games.

  55. sksky says:

Ahhh when are the English translations released? I don’t want to read any extra stories before finishing the main series. But so far all there is is the first one. T_T

    • Yi says:

I think all the groups are still progressing. ^ ^
This time of the year is pretty busy for most people. Schools, jobs, real life stuff, so yea…

    • EmperorG says:

Thanks for the link, but I’ve already played and enjoyed the 1st episode’s true ending. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well dood.
My apologies, I thought you were referring to episode 7. No, I’m well aware of the pipi scene from episode 1. It was thanks to Yuuna that the scene’s memorable to begin with, despite how evil it is.

      • EmperorG says:

Oops, you were talking to the post below me. Silly me, I didn’t notice the latest reply. Oh well. Ignore the post above this one.

  56. Shana S says:

    Everyone~! Finally I found it~!! Sono Hanabira 3 remake!!

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/512jkr (edited -Yi)

  57. hossammilan says:

what a coincidence, i’m playing the third game right now. I’ll download this so I can compare them. THANK YOU.

    • Verdure says:

I would love to know what the differences are, so thanks!

      • hossammilan says:

I’ve just finished it and here what I found :

1- the plot is still the same, nothing more nothing less (I think even the sentences are the same as the old one).

2- the facial expressions of the the characters changed in a very few scenes (like Reo having an angry expression when saying ” Mai no baka”in the first scene instead of the sarcastically smiling face in the old game) ……… I don’t believe I witnessed this.

3- some of the scenes have different backgrounds ( like the school and the classroom designs )

4- some important scenes (especially the HOT ones ) have music from the newer games.

5- for some reason the hole game was re-recorded (using the same voice actresses in the old game)

that is all, if any one found anything else please tell me.

      • Yi says:

        Thanks for the complete breakdown.

My immediate reaction is also that the visuals look different. Should be fun. ^ ^

  58. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya posted an announcement today. The three items that were announced last month will all be released on 17 December. The light novel won’t be written by Sano San’ichiro like all of the previous works. Rather, it will be written by JUN, one of the writers of Joshikou no Waidan.

  59. Isabelyes says:

I recently finished the first game, and I have to say it’s one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen.
Can’t wait for an English Translation for SH 3! ->

Anyway, was SH really the first Yuri VN ever?
That’s kind of…woah. Its influence has been massive, then.

    …I think. (>**)>

Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your blog, too.
    You’re pretty awesome~! ❤

    • Yi says:

I think there might be another one before it actually. The name escapes me. But Sono Hanabira is the first of its kind in terms of being 18+ and focusing on yuri romance as opposed to just a bunch of hardcore S/M scenarios. And it’s certainly the most popular.

Anyways, thanks for the support. ^ ^

      • Isabelyes says:

If SH is the first one that is 18+, I think it’s pretty safe to call it the first ‘real’ Yuri (as opposed to Shoujo Ai) VN. ^^)> )

Anyway, thanks again! I’ll check this site every now and then to see if any patches has come out and all.

        See ya~! ❤

        • Yi says:

Actually, I looked more into it. There was one more before this… So I was wrong about it being the first 18+ purely yuri visual novel.

It’s still undoubtedly one of the more influential series though. ^ ^

        • AXYPB says:

What would that other one be?

        • Yi says:

Sapphism No Gensou is released in 2001. I haven’t played it myself, but from what I understand, it’s pure yuri.

        • Swordwind says:

From what I’ve heard, Sapphism’s protagonist is essentially the stereotypical male H-game protagonist, but with breasts.

  60. RedKnight says:

hello people. Okay? I found this site today and thought
its contents cool. I am a reader of manga and yuri
Habanera these games in the series are very good in this regard.
Thanks for the effort and keep at it. My grammar is
bad because I used the google language tool for
comment. I’m brazilian and my english is not very good.
    rsrsrsrsrsrsrsrs

  61. slayer says:

    wow!….all is Complete here!!….thanks for everything Yi…..

can i have your e-mail?….i wanna contact you if i want to ask something personally…..
    Thanks ^^

  62. cyn says:

Not Sono Hanabira but pretty related: http://yuri.saiin.net/top.html. Five heroines in this one, so it’s more like a mainstream VN structure-wise, but from the looks of it and the limited translation I’ve seen we may have another winner on our hands once it gets released.

    • EmperorG says:

If there’s no male lead involved, sign me in dood. this reminds me of another yuri game that has intrigued me for a long time, yet I don’t know if anyone has picked it up. “Sapphism no Gensou”. I know it’s just another typical Yuri-H game, but I’m interested in the DVD version.

    • K-Nashi says:

hmm looks interesting, but will that be really Yuri though? since the sample CG seems to only have one yuri scene and the rest is pretty typical of Eroge Het CG~

    • Yi says:

I think we have legit yuri here. I’m actually pretty excite about this.

Thanks cyn! It’s planned for completion in Winter 2010. I’ll follow up on this when it’s released.

    • AXYPB says:

Seven Days With The Ghost has been released. It’s available for free from multiple mirrors. Click on a “インデックスページ” link to download.

      • AXYPB says:

Be warned that the sample material shows one futanari character.

        • EmperorG says:

DANG, that is one big game. I’m eager to find out what cool stuff it has in store, hoping someone might pick it up in the future. As for the Futa, I’m more than prepared to handle it. I’ve seen my fair share of futas and the one in this game looks pretty tame.

        • AXYPB says:

Some research tells me that it’s an isolated aside with no impact on any of the main plotlines, but I know some people here will be put off by the sight of it.

        • EmperorG says:

True. not everyone can stomach such things so it’s a good warning at the end of the day. Then again, Parade Parade and Stainless Night prove that on rare occasions, Futas aren’t so bad. Yes I’m allergic to winkies but there are times I can handle it if the content is to my liking. Okay that’s enough from me.

        • EmperorG says:

Okay, I have a question, how exactly do you start the game up? I downloaded it and everything and Applocale isn’t working. Please help. I think there was another game here where I had the same problem.

        • Yi says:

Over 1 gig of direct download is too much for my internet to handle right now… I think I’ll have to wait until April to see this.

It does seem like the futa is either one route or one event, so it shouldn’t be too distracting for those who prefer yuri, although I guess some do have zero tolerance.

      • Johnny says:

Is is translated in english ?

  63. Rei says:

  64. hisui19 says:

ne, can you tell me how to install the Hanahira game? I can’t do it…

    • Yi says:

Just extract the .rar file and double click HANA9.exe. If you’re getting some message that says MainWindow: FileJoin and some gibberish, one thing people have suggested is just to move all the contents to a completely new folder. It should work then.

  65. MyHatsOffToYou says:

I already finished 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 thanks to the Chinese patches; yuri genre is truely beautiful. Since I am new to visual novels, is there any other yuri visual novel you might recommend? I can understand English and Chinese only though……

    • MyHatsOffToYou says:

Oh, I forgot to mention, I’m not a fan of tragedies no matter how beautiful the stories are…….

      • Yi says:

I think the eighth has also been translated into Chinese. Check the links on this page.
Also, some other good ones worth checking out are Aoi Shiro and Katahane. I’m not sure what the status on Katahane is, and I think Aoi Shiro has been translated by the lovely Shijima from Wings of Yuri.

        • MyHatsOffToYou says:

Ya, I’m actually playing 8th right now. I finished 1 through 5 fairly quickly since they are just awsome like that, but I’m a bit busy with school right now so 8th will take a while for me. Anyway, thanks for sharing ^.^

          P.S. “School” means post-secondary; I’m not underage.

        • Yi says:

No problem! Have fun with the eighth.

p.s. Haha, good to know you’re not underage. Although I don’t really mind either way. Kids have such easy access and so much exposure to adult materials these days, Hanabira wouldn’t matter.

p.p.s. If anyone is underage though, I don’t want to know.

        • O_Fogry says:

Just for anyone interested, the progress for the Katahane translation can be found here: http://tlwiki.tsukuru.info/index.php?title=Katahane.

        • Yi says:

Oh thanks! I didn’t even realize people were working on this. I guess that’s enough incentive for me to finish this game soon. I’ve been putting it on hold partly because it didn’t seem like anyone else cared about it.

        • EmperorG says:

Ever since Katahane has been brought up, I checked any translations. Man, I need me some more games that either have eroge, but with lovable characters, or no eroge and have interesting characters. From comrade Yi’s words, Katahane is one of those games. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the translation progress as well.

        • Yi says:

You should check out Aoi Shiro too. One of my favorites for numerous reasons!

        • EmperorG says:

I already have it in my collection. Problem is that I keep delaying it for some reason. I’m still thinking on which of the ladies I want to unlock first, Last off topic question, who would you recommend I start with 1st? I only need a name. I already know that I should leave “Ghosty” for last. I’m intrigued to try the “Oni King” route.

        • Yi says:

It’s really up to you I guess. I love all the characters roughly equally.

        • Swordwind says:

Seals enforce play order a little bit in Aoishiro. You’ll have to do either Migiwa or Yasumi first (after them, Kohaku / Kaya, then Nami is unlocked, then ‘True’ route).

        • Yi says:

That’s true. I totally forgot about that… It’s been a while since Aoi Shiro. I should probably replay that.

        • MyHatsOffToYou says:

Well I just finished it last night……I started with Nami unlocking and completing Nami’s route first since she’s just so adorable ^.^ I recommend playing through all the character’s happy endings before the “true” ending since the different endings properly covers their own characters. I don’t recommend rushing to the true ending since it compresses all the characters into one route and might get a bit confusing…..

        • Yi says:

That’s probably the best. The game is actually pretty complicated in its stories and character interactions.

  66. Seph89 says:

Thank you YI and AXYPB for links to another great Sono Hana game ^^
Your blog is awesome, thanks a lot.

  67. mikuku says:

does anyone know how to use visual novel tools ? i want to try it .
    thanks before 😛

  68. hossammilan says:

Yi… Why don’t you put the Reo X Mai dairies that was released by Shin-gx here. There are 5 of them.

  69. Ichigo says:

i have a question…besides hanabira 1, have any other games be translated into english?
i wish the translaters luck and thanks!!!!

  70. Yi says:

Just some recent updates: Hanabira 10 download added. Reo x Mai Diaries added/ linked. Also, if anyone knows the tools for translating stuff, Mikuku is looking for help.

  71. V says:

I have a question, I don’t know how to open part 1 or part 2 of the remake. How does it work can you tell me please because I really want to play the remake 😦

  72. MyHatsOffToYou says:

Is the “Reo x Mai Diaries” fan made video or is it an actual game? Cause the sound quality is a little odd and the screen looks like the interface in games.

  73. Dragon Of Hourai says:

    GYAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! This Is Bad !
    http://www.gameinformer.com/blogs/members/b/sakabato24_blog/archive/2010/12/14/is-it-the-end-of-anime-and-manga-bill-156-passed.aspx
What do you think this might mean for the Sono Hanabira series?

    [Bad End]
    >-Yes?-
    -No?-

    • Dragon Of Hourai says:

no wait strike that i just remembered that Hanabira shouldn’t be effected by this considering its already marked for adults.

      • Yi says:

There is another comment thread on this discussion and plenty of talk around the internet.

The more I read about his bill, the more I’m leaning toward what Swordwind says: “I really wouldn’t worry too much about anything actually happening.”
Sure, it’s disappointing and it’s backwards, but we’ll see if it actually gets put to practice.

  74. V says:

Thx, but it still doesn’t work for some reason, I alrdy have WinRAR and when I click open with WinRAR for part 1, I see something like HANABIRA 3 SE, I try extracting but it doesn’t work, like theres a pop out something like unexpected end archive, and when I click part 2 and open it with WinRAR it say “This archive is either unknown format for damaged”. I tried deleting it and redownloading, but it doesn’t work and the icon appear as a WinRAR book thing with white background. The first time I download it it look like some blank page with some window and colorful things in it, but now when i delete it and redownload it stays as book. Any idea what happen :(? Thx Yi btw, I’ve been waiting to play the remake because the Mai and Reo is my fav couple, but now I am kind of sad because I couldn’t play it after I wait for it a long time.

  75. V says:

Thank you Yi :]]]] it work now and I can finally play it xD even tho I can’t read Japanese only Chinese :p I will guess what it means 😛

  76. tama-chan says:

i really hope they make another anime soooooon if they are i really can’t wait (they should make another anime!!!) >.<

    • Yi says:

Same here. I remember AXYPB mentioned that the anime did really well in sales. That should be good incentive for another OVA. I’m hopeful to see future chuchu releases.

  77. Natsume says:

    Hello, Yi!!
This is my first time commenting on your website, but I have been visiting quite often, and I really appreciate all the work you do! 🙂
I was just wondering when the new doujinshi for Runa x Takako and the drama cd for Nanami x Yuuna were going to be uploaded (Sorry I couldn’t wait any longer! haha).

Thanks so much for everything, and keep up the good work!! 🙂
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!

    • Yi says:

      Hi, thanks for commenting.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the physical copies of either, so I don’t know when uploads will be show up. Usually, some lovely individuals will spot an upload and link it. All the credits to the wonderful Hanabira fans. ^ ^

      Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!

  78. V says:

:] ooh, thx Yi :] but I already played all of the games with chinese or english translation xD and I loved the 3rd and 5th one the best :3

  79. EmperorG says:

“Ayakashi Ninden Kunoichiban” for the PSX. I wonder if there’s a scrip translation or patch for it anywhere? It would be interesting if there were one though. “Akai Ito” apparently has one online as well, thus my reason for asking if this game also had one.

  80. Swordwind says:

I thought I’d mention Embric of Wulfhammer’s Castle. English game made using rpgmaker (2003) with a high Yuri quotient. I found it pretty fun. MC can’t seem to keep her cloths on, though.

    Download page:

    http://wulfhammer.org/?page_id=10

    • Yi says:

I’ll definitely be checking this one out in the future. I need something to kill time after I finish Recettear anyways and this seems like an easy enough game.

      Thanks for mentioning it!

p.s. Should I open up another page for people to post recommendations, links, and stuff related to yuri materials?

      • AXYPB says:

Such a page should have entries with a small picture and a description of each that tells users what to expect in terms of explicitness and implicitness. You could give specific works priority based on how many replies the initial recommendation gets.

Of course, it should begin with this series since it appears to be a gateway series for your readers.

      • EmperorG says:

Ah, we have yet another guest who has discovered Wulfhammer Castle. Trust me my friend, this game requires no hardcore gamer skills whatsoever. In fact, it’s like an old school dating sim from what I’ve played so far. Good luck finding all the possible pairings my friend.

      • Swordwind says:

Are you finally starting to get the hang of Recettear? I saw some of those tweets.

If you want, you can, but I hardly think it’s necessary.

        • Yi says:

Yea I’m doing really well with Recettear now, especially after I realized that you can keep all your levels and items when you start over after Recette lives in a box.

Anyways, lately there’s been a lot of comments here that are unrelated to Sono Hanabira, but about different yuri materials in general. ie. Aoi Shiro, new potential yuri games, Wulfhammer…etc. I thought maybe it’d be nice to have a page just dedicated for people to post in the comments all the yuri stuff that they think will be cool to share. It wouldn’t be limited to games either, but manga, anime, upcoming stuff, doujins, fanfics, and whatever else.

I’ll think more about it… If it’s not necessary or if people don’t use it, then it wouldn’t be worth opening another page and spreading out content.

        • Swordwind says:

Yeah, I think I beat it the first time through out of luck.

I’ll repeat something I believe I told you not too long ago: you don’t have to create work for yourself. You already do a lot. If you want to make this page, you should. If you don’t, that’s fine too. I’ll support you, in my own meager amount, either way.

        • Yi says:

Thanks for the support and the wisdom all this time. Your words have prevented me from just burning out and disappearing time and time again. ^ ^

  81. shinra says:

No Drama CD on the post??? :C (Looks like I’m the only 1 listening to the drama Cds. XD)

    • AXYPB says:

I pay a lot of attention to the drama CDs. The latest one is still nowhere to be found.

    • Yi says:

I’ve added the drama CD section. Still haven’t seen the most recent one though. As soon as someone spots it, I’ll add it.

      • shinra says:

Thanks ^^ Cant wait for the recent Drama CD to be release XD

      • MyHatsOffToYou says:

        nnnNNNOOOoooo~~~~~ If only I know Japanese T_T

        • shinra says:

Learn, watch more anime and listen to J-music or Drama CD…. or JPN Radios (better) like me. I do those everyday.

          Me: animes=daily,
          J-music=my life
(no other language songs, never, Do sing along too.)
Drama CDs= When I feel bored
J Radios= Every time i listen to radios, its Japanese

(after 5 years, ur a pro XD)

  82. Shana S says:

well I just found this picture and I remember that Hahinara! have light novel, but I can’t find it >[]<
So does anyone have link download of light novel Hanahira! ?

  83. Johnny says:

Does Runa wear panties under her uniform or not ?

    “runs away”

  84. Guest says:

Hmm… I think you’ve put the wrong link for the Drama CD section Kaede-chan super mode :P. Can you please fix it? Cause I really love that pairing >.< Thank you for your attention 🙂

  85. Enigmatic Paradox says:

Sorry if I’ve just blindly overlooked it somewhere further up but I couldn’t help but notice a few more of the VN’s have now got English translations in progress, as sensational as this is I have to ask, are any of the translations confirmed as being quite near completion now? or will it still be a while before any new translations are finished?

Not trying to sound impatient or anything at all as I’ve nothing but admiration for those who’ve taken the translation project upon themselves, but I’ve found my visits to this site a little infrequent over the holiday season and have sort of lost track of where progress is at here.

Happy New Year to everyone, hope the holiday season has been good to you all.

  86. Johnny says:

    AXYPB, werent u translating 2nd game ?

    • Swordwind says:

He’s editing, not translating. My understanding is that a third party is finishing the translations (translating chp 1 and the H scenes, I think).

  87. Johnny says:

I wish goog luck to the person who translates H scene… hope he’ll be able to concentrate him/herself ! :p

    • Yi says:

Everyone, go thank AXYPB, Kamyu, and the crew!!

p.s. A link to the English patch for Sono Hanabira 2 is now linked on the index page courtesy of AXYPB. Huge huge huge thanks and love for all their hardwork. ^ ^

      • Ryuu says:

Um can someone show me how to download the eng patch?
When I click on the link, it say like this: “I’m sorry, were you looking for something?”
p/s: thanks for all your hardwork!

        • Yi says:

All the links on this page surrounding Sono Hanabira 2 translation release should direct to the release page on AXYPB world.

There, you should be able to find a working download link. The links there worked for me. If it still does not work for you, you might find better help there.

  88. Monsin VIII says:

Hey… Downloaded Hanabira 2 and I get an error message when I try to run the setup or the EXE. I installed Hanabira 1 a while back perfectly fine, this one just doesn’t want to run : /

    • Yi says:

I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. One thing I usually tell people to try is just to make a new folder and name it to anything in English. Then copy all the content into this new folder and run HANABIRA2.exe.

Some other common fixes to issues are change the directory names of all folders to English. Change system locale to Japanese. Or run as administrator.

      Good luck.

      • EmperorG says:

This is for Vista and 7 users.

All I did, with the version that was downloaded here anyway, is place all of the files in the RAR in a new folder, move that same folder into My Computer-Program Files and that takes care of the glitch issues. Also, try “running the game as administrator”

Now, to install the English patch, simply run the program and when the option of choosing the folder appears, simply go to My Computer, then Program files and choose the foler with Hanabira2 files in it. The rest should take of itself.

If all else fails, apply the same steps after downloading applocale. I’m too lazy to explain how applocale works though, sorry.

Hope the above mentioned steps help at least.

  89. Johnny says:

Wouldnt it be good to put the english pack of Hanabira 02 in updates ? 🙂

  90. xX777Xx says:

Die in happiness when I saw the English patch already done XD.

  91. Tony says:

If “Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu” is volume 10 then what is considered volume 9? Is it the side story? “Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu” seems like volume 9 to me and even the .exe file to run the game is called “HANA9.EXE”. Can anyone shed some light on what is technically 9 and 10? Thanks in advance.

    • AXYPB says:

It isn’t entirely clear. Hanahira! is Fuguriya’s ninth visual novel and Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu is the ninth visual novel in the main series. It should become clear once the next visual novel is released.

    • EmperorG says:

Like the Alphabetical one said, until the next episode is released, think of Hanahira! as a bonus episode/special or OVA. chronologically, most consider “Runa X Takako 2” to be episode 9 while Hanahira! is an extra. The truth will be revealed once the next episode is released.

    • Yi says:

That’s how I’m counting it. I’ll probably correct myself when the next release is announced.

As a side note though, the reason I counted Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu as 10th is because when it was first announced before the release, I checked Hanahira, and the .exe file for Hanahira also says “HANA9.exe”. So, I just assumed this one would be 10.

    • Tony says:

Thanks for the replies everyone, guess we’ll wait and see.

  92. sksky says:

GYAHHHHH~~!!!! none of my hanabira games are saving! they don’t save D’8
and i finally got the chinese patch too TT-TT im really ticked off about that. and also my screen(i use full screen) jumps out every 30 seconds and even in windows mode, it still jumps off every so often. my computer suggested something about a reinstallment, should i do tat? is there anyway to fix this? Dx i’m sorry for the trouble—

    • EmperorG says:

Try this. Instead of installing the game, move the Hanabira folder into the Program Files of My Computer. Then, right click on the Hanabira icons and select “run as administrator”. This helped me with my black glitch screen problem. Maybe it’ll help with your saving problems as well.

Oh, this works with Vista and Windows 7. However, if this won’t work, try using applocale.

One more thing, do not install the game. Simply click on the icon and you’re good to go without a need for installation.

  93. xX777Xx says:

Hmm… I’ve joined the file with hjsplit like what you’ve said but the WinRar can’t identify the file and I guess I’ll download it from the MU : P. It’s about the Sono Hanabira 3 remake files.

  94. orangegurl says:

im waiting somebody can kindly share the 4th drama cd, thank you

  95. afkeroge says:

I visited the official website and saw that it now passed the 5 million hits mark! This IS the yuri nation! I’m impressed.

  96. kawaai!!! says:

yi its been a while since i tried to like translate the game with the patch you given…. but….. i am a bit shy to said that i em not good in it even though reading the intruction erm can you help me?/….. thank you onegai shimas…

    • Yi says:

First, make sure you have the right files.

You need to have the game file and the English patches downloaded from Count Pacula’s site.

If you’ve downloaded the game file from here, extract the file into a new folder. Then place the files from Count Pacula into that folder as well. Double click HANABIRA-EN exe, and the game should play.

If you run into problems, you might need to make sure you have Japanese language systems on your computer. It also might help if you create a new folder, and copy and paste all the files from the extracted folder into the new one.

      Good luck.

  97. nie_chan says:

where can I watch Sono Hanabira: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi this anime please tell me

  98. Yi says:

    Just some recent updates.

As most of you already know, translation patch for the second Sono Hanabira game has been released by AXYPB. Patch linked.
Check out the survey and answer some simple questions.
    http://axypbworld.wordpress.com/2011/01/23/translation-patch-survey/

Also, Sono Hanabira 6, Kuchibiru to Kiss de Tsubuyashi review finally written… A few years after I first played it. Downloads for the game and CG now points to there as well.

  99. abuzlumah says:

pls. send me some lesbian hentai images

  100. icemonster987 says:

How many Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo is there really as of today? 8? sorry just got really confuse..

    • Yi says:

As of this comment, there are 9 adult games plus one all age game (Hanahira). There is also a remake of one of the adult games (Hanabira 3).

      p.s. It is pretty confusing!

      • icemonster987 says:

A Kiss for the Petals – Sweet, Desirable, and Melting Kiss
Amakute Hoshikute Torokeru Chuu (Hanabira 7 – Runa x Takako)
A Kiss for the Petals – Melting Hot Adult Kiss
        Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu
this 2 are the same right?

        • Yi says:

No. One is the seventh game featuring Runa and Takako for the first time. The other is a sequel/ follow up on this couple released very recently.

The titles are somewhat different too, with the latter emphasizing adulthood (otona).

  101. icemonster987 says:

ooo..and one more thing is the A Kiss for the Petals – Join by a Hand like a Lover – Remake (Anata to Koibito Tsunagi – Remake) better than the original or just the same?

  102. Mojo says:

OH!! I am so happy that I could die when I noticed that hanabira2 has translated TOT I love Kaede x Sara so much!!!
Thank you for the hard work ^^

I wonder will there be anyone going to do translation for hanabira4? T^T I am really looking forward to this couple

  103. Johnny says:

Hope Wings of Yuri & AXYPB will release the sequel…

  104. R says:

i can download and play the games fine, but the japanese text does not show. i just get dots… i can read japanese so if i can get it to display the characters ill be fine. any ideas to what i can do to fix this? i have the japanese keyboard stuff installed

  105. tama-chan says:

wat program would u need to play the sono hanabira novels?? (i tried downloading one and i couldn’t play it………… please help!!

    • tama-chan says:

also are in japanese the subtitles and stuff
is there a way to change it??

      thx soooo much!!! ^ ^

      • Yi says:

I don’t think you need any particular program to play it other than the game file. Just download them and extract the folder with winRAR or something. Then click on the .exe file.

If it doesn’t work, try making a new folder and simply copying all the files from the extracted folder to the new folder.

As for translations, only the first two have been translated into English. There are links to both releases.

        Good luck.

        • tama-chan says:

          thanks soo much!!
also im about to play sono hanabira joined on love with you (just installed) and it says source folder…. what am i suppose to do?? i tried using empy folders i made but i can’t go next….

        • Yi says:

The source folder is simply the folder that contains the game. Just put the patch in with everything else extracted from the downloaded .rar in the same folder, and double click the patch. Once the patch is finished patching, double click on the game and play.

          Hope this helps, tama-chan. ^ ^

        • tama-chan says:

when u download sono hanabira joined in love with you does it come up as the game icon or a folder (it came up and just the game for me) sorry >.< im having trouble extracting…..confused -.-
          thanks you so much (:

        • Yi says:

You need to download two things. One is a .rar file that you extract into a folder. The other is the patch (icon looks like Mai with a nosebleed) that you can get at AXYPB.

        • tama-chan says:

how do you extract the game or folder?
i really thank you for helping (i think i’m asking to much =.= it’s just i really need help >o< but i will soon get it ^^)

        • Yi says:

To extract it, you need to install a program like Winrar. Google it and you should be able to find a free version of it.

Once you have winrar installed, right click on the file you downloaded, and select extract file.

p.s. Don’t worry about asking stuff!

  106. R says:

ah thanks for the applocale link, unfortunatly it wont install on vista so ill just have to wait for the translations

    • Yi says:

Alternatively, you could just change your computer’s system locale to Japanese I think. Look around control panel under language and regional settings.

That should allow the game to display Japanese.

  107. R says:

yeah figured it out yesterday 🙂 it’s working fine now thank you

  108. SilverWind says:

Is it normal for the game to like “Blink” when you played half way? EG I played it at full-screen and all of the sudden it blinked and I’m at desktop. Or maybe msn will affect it?

    • Yi says:

I’ve never played it at fullscreen, but if you are on MSN and a message pops up, that might minimize the game to desktop. I’m not entirely sure though. But yea, that shouldn’t be normal.

  109. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya made an announcement today. The main post is a new web series called “Reo-like Radio” in which Reo answers fan questions submitted on Fuguriya’s website. It’s posted on NicoNicoDouga instead of YouTube, so some people may not be able to access it. A second installment will be uploaded in two weeks.

    • AXYPB says:

I’m listening to it right now and it appears to be fashioned as an actual radio show featuring the actual voice actresses out of character, like an omake. This episode features the voices of Reo (Kyouka) and Kaede (Gogyou Nazuna). It’s so strange hearing Kaede speaking clearly. Does anyone here know how to write emails in Japanese? I have more than a few questions I’d like answered directly from the source.

    • AXYPB says:

After more listening, I should point out a few things.

Reo’s voice actress’ name is rendered “Anzu Hana”. Apparently she actually sounds like that.
Episodes will be posted every two weeks for an unspecified amount of time.
This is a good opportunity to let Fuguriya know about their fanbase in the West. Then again, I fear their response to the various fan translation efforts.

      • afkeroge says:

I would love to help you out, but unfortunately, I am unable to form coherent Japanese sentences. If you have a romaji version of your email questions, then I would gladly help.

    • Yi says:

Thanks for the news! I’ll check it out when I get the time to. Seems really interesting for sure.

Reo and Kaede. I didn’t even think they knew each other. I can see Mai and Yuuna, or Mai and Nanami, or Yuuna and Kaede, or Mai and Kaede, but somehow, Reo and Kaede just seems unusual.

So Reo’s seiyuu does sound like that irl. It’s actually kind of hard for me to imagine her go to a restaurant and order food as an adult with that voice. Or even more awkward, have a conversation about a serious issue or speak publicly at an event. It’s an incredibly adorable voice though!

“This is a good opportunity to let Fuguriya know about their fanbase in the West. Then again, I fear their response to the various fan translation efforts.”
Heh… Historically, many Japanese adult game producers have not been very caring of western audiences. But I don’t blame them. There are some pretty radical American groups hellbent on persecuting adult games, loli, and such. I’m remembering all these articles from some time ago about Illusion games. I don’t know what Fuguriya’s attitude will be though, and I’d like to hope for the best.

  110. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya made an announcement today. A drama CD is planned for release in the spring, but which couple is going to be featured in it is still under consideration. The next visual novel is scheduled for this summer. Presumably, it will continue the eighth. The radio show will continue for at least the rest of the year.

    • Yi says:

Very awesome news!! I can’t wait to play part two of Shizuku x Ellis. I found the eighth a bit flat in terms of their personalities, although they do have best character designs. Hopefully, the next one will give them more depth.

Anyway, still need to catch up on all the drama CDs.

Thanks for the vigilance and your contribution to the fans as always, AXYPB. ^ ^

      • EmperorG says:

The man with few emotions online, but plenty of contributions to show that he does care. That is the alphabetical one.
For obvious reasons, I’ll both rejoice and feel sorrow once Shizuku X Ellis 2 premiers. Why? Pretty obvious. I’ll play it but it will take plenty of time, effort, patience and years before an English patch is eventually released.

      • K-Nashi says:

to be fair, most of Sono Hanabira characters have rather flat persona on their first games. its always the second game that give them more depth. So its likely ElliShizuku second game will put more persona to the girls..~

    • K-Nashi says:

definitely good news~ thx for the head up. Trully hope this will be another ElliShizuku story~

  115. JbstormburstADV says:

I swear to Kami-sama, trying to get news on the progress of Sono Hanabira translation is almost as harrowing as trying to figure out when the translation for Tomoyo After 2005 will be done. But, what I really want to know is when the heck is Sono Hanabira 3 going to get finished. Heck, if I can get someone to handle the translation, I’ll do the editing.

    • Yi says:

The script is unbelievably long. It doesn’t feel that way when one plays and clicks through them. But when faced with having to do something for each line (I translated some chapters for the seventh; I imagine it’s the same for editing), it’s pretty exhausting, not to mention time consuming. We all do fan translations out of our own time, and most of us also have either jobs, schools, or lives that understandably take priority.

Anyway, it will get finished sometime.

      • JbstormburstADV says:

I do get your point, as I’m a proofreader with Kira-Fansub, and while going through some scripts can be a hassle (like how I went through ALL 26 episodes of Angelic Layer), it can be rewarding…

Besides, I am offering up my services if there is an interest. After all, I got started on Sono Hanabira with the OVA, and seeing the visual novels untranslated makes me itch for the rest, so I have a compelling interest.

        Also, any clue on the progress of the Tomoyo After translation? It’s really getting on my nerves that such a great VN isn’t translated 6 years later, which is an abnormality considering that;

        a) It’s by KEY, and

        b) CLANNAD did not take this long to be translated.

        • Yi says:

Ahh I see. Thanks for all the hardwork. ^ ^
I think I watched with some friends an episode of Koe de Oshigoto! subbed by you guys. That was quite an experience.

Anyway, I have some contact with the people working on Sono Hanabira game translations, and they are well in progress. ^ ^
In the mean time, you could always check out the first two.

As for Tomoyo After… I have no idea. Is it even being worked on? Or has the group fizzled/ project been dropped?

        • JbstormburstADV says:

I didn’t handle Koe de Oshigoto, but what I did handle EXTREMELY intimately was Angelic Layer. That, I can say, is my baby.

        • Rei says:

I believe there’s a partial patch for Tomoyo After coming out that will cover 30-40% of the game. You can also check the discussion tab for more information. They’re hoping the patch would help recruit more translators. I been following this visual novel for a while and I believed that it was mentioned some time ago that a great part of it has been translated(~60%). However, I remember someone stating that it has to be retranslated again. It seems pretty messy. I have higher hopes for Little Busters! finishing than Tomoyo After..

        • Yi says:

@JbstormburstADV: I’ll have to check out Angelic layer some time then. ^ ^

@Rei: Thanks for the information! I’m not too familiar with Tomoyo After at all, but a quick search showed some beautiful CGs. If it does get an unlikely completion, that’d be nice.

  116. JbstormburstADV says:

@Rei: You mean on Baka-Tsuki, right?

@Yi: Do it. While Angelic Layer is not even close to an eroge, it is perhaps one of CLAMP’s best. Also, it is supposedly the prequel to Chobits. I look forward to a review…

Not to mention, they do have quite a bit of ship tease for a yuri pairing (canon, though, it is likely not) that has cute screaming all over it. Just watch and observe…

    • Yi says:

Yuri ship tease huh? Now I’m very interested! I wish I had more time to watch all these great anime, but… I’ll add this to my massive backlog. Thanks for the recommendation. ^ ^

      • JbstormburstADV says:

Although perhaps I should just call it shoujo-ai, considering yuri seems… too strong of a word to use here…

        • AXYPB says:

Fuguriya calls it yuri themselves, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t. Even the characters call it so in omake.

        • Swordwind says:

I don’t think they were talking about Hanabira, Axy.

        • Yi says:

I think the whole shoujo-ai vs. yuri thing was much more relevant a decade ago when there is a clear delineation between mature works and normal works in anime and manga. Nowadays, I think the two terms are interchangeable. Perhaps partly because of the blurring of ecchi and ero. Or perhaps it’s just a simple change in word meaning, which happens so often.

        • AXYPB says:

          Well.

  117. gozieson says:

Hey there! I’m just a bystander who chanced upon your blog about a year ago and was really entranced by the stuff you post here.
It’s interesting to note that whatever things you said about anime and manga characters on your blog are true and it really gets your thought muscles going, something which I really like.
Recently, I had a thought about making a Sono Hanabira fanfiction with quite a number of OCs and a few sub-plots to boot. I have most of the story stored in my head (and partially in my books) but I have a few problems regarding the development of the fanfic if I were to write about it:
    1. I have no real idea how to do yuri scenes, at all. I could consult someone about how to properly portray characters intimately but I’m still a little uncomfortable about it.
    2. Names. The names of the OCs have got to be the most frustrating part about the story, because although I frequently read your blog and (on a whim) any other blogs regarding Japanese anime and manga, I still have no idea how to name the characters in the fanfic.
    3. How to end the story, I mean I could add a happy ending or a sad ending or a neutral ending to the story I’m thinking about, but I have no real idea on how to end it properly.

Of course , these problems are part and parcel of the pre-drafting stages of writing a story, but if I could find help on how to write the story well, then maybe I might just post it on the fanfiction.net website. A Sono Hanabira fanfic would also be a new title to the list of titles found in the fanfic website so this would be very interesting.

Hopefully, I would be able to complete the draft and elaborate on the story as time goes by. I would still have to focus more on my studies first though but maybe I would get the time to write these things when I’m free.

I would like to say a word of thanks beforehand if you do reply and again for sharing your thoughts on this blog. Hope to hear from you soon!

    • Yi says:

Ooh a Sono Hanabira fan fiction. That sounds really cool!

I don’t know if this is the best place to get help on writing, or if I can offer any sound advice. I’m not too well versed in fan fiction or story writing in general, so yea. I’ll try my best to help though.

      1. Hm… This is a toughie. Most lesbian sex scenes -Sono Hanabira included- cater to a male audience and aren’t exactly authentic. For example, scissoring isn’t exactly that good. But in fiction, things can be pretty spicy and fun, and it can work wonderfully. I guess it depends.
p.s. It is kind of an awkward uncomfortable thing to consult someone about…

      2. I think you could just go with their transliterated names: Yuuna, Nanami, Sara, Kaede, Reo, Mai, Takako, Runa, Shizuku, and Erisu (Ellis).

      3. Personally, I like happy endings. ^ ^ But it’s more important what you want.

I think there are probably better communities suited for fan fiction than on this page.
Deviant Hearts is a pretty popular fanfiction site dedicated to yuri themed fanfics: http://www.devianthearts.com/forum/index.php
You might get far better help there.

      And of course, Shoujo-Ai Archive : http://www.shoujoai.com/
      Which has been around forever.

When you finish writing the fan fiction, please do drop a link to it here! I’d love to read it. ^ ^

Anyway, thank you so much for your kind words. They made my day. ^ ^

      • gozieson says:

        Hey there!

Again, thanks for replying. I should say that writing yuri is something new for me. But about the characters in the fanfiction, no, I’m not gonna put on an emphasis on the original characters, but instead I’m gonna introduce a few new characters of mine to the story. It’s my preferred way of writing the fanfiction, introducing my original characters and using the original characters from the creators to guide the fanfic along. This means that I’ll have to think of new names to give, something which is quite tough for me.

If you want I can send you a scan of my rough draft of the story to you. Details are literally sketchy so I’m still not very sure if this draft is going to be the full base of me writing the story at all. Of course if you want me to send you the draft, you will have to agree not to let anyone have their hands on this draft ;).

Anyways, thanks for the links though, I’m sure I’ll be able to think of something quickly. See you soon for your next post!

        • Yi says:

Ahh I see I see. I misunderstood. I thought you were writing a story with the current characters. That’ll be quite fun to see new characters.

The names are quite a toughie. I think one way to do it would be to kind of have an idea what you want the names to mean, then get the kanji for the meaning, and derive the name with that. This might be unnecessary for you, but Japanese names actually have a pretty thorough wiki page and it might be some help: http://goo.gl/WReuV I’m not really good with any of this stuff though. Creative writing was never something I could do.

I’d love to read your rough draft! I don’t want to post my email address here (I’ve been getting quite a bit of spam lately). Just contact me via the contact page.
Of course, I won’t let anyone else see it if you don’t want to. ^ ^

p.s. Sorry for the late reply… I’ve just been so swamped with everything.

        • gozieson says:

Hey there, thanks again for replying.

Kinda busy here this week, would probably be able to give you the draft next week or something after I finished whatever things I need to do immediately. Until then, would wait for more posts from you. Thanks again!

P.S. I’m still scared out of my wits to actually write the yuri scenes. I can write drafts of those scenes and then pass them to you or someone else then you can help me with the editing, but I’d probably worry about that later.

        • Yi says:

          No rush. ^ ^

“Until then, would wait for more posts from you. Thanks again!”
That reminds me… I should probably write a new blog post today.

About the yuri scenes… Giving feedback on those will be quite… awkward. Haha!

  118. AXYPB says:

I recall recommending the yuri works of Asagi Ryu (best known for I Fell In Love For The First Time) on this blog in the past. It has come to my attention that he intends to write a doujin for this series, as evidenced by this concept drawing of Kaede, Sara, Mai, Reo, Takako, and Runa all one year older. Thus far, not much else is known about it, other than that it is the first of a series. This might be the first instance of more than four principal characters interacting with one another in the same work.

    • Johnny says:

I know this author : “I Fell In Love For The 1st Time” was so eromantic !
But he wants to write a doujin, hope he wont fall into the trap of the harem… i prefer monogamy !
“Sex is best when it’s one on one” (George Michael)

      • AXYPB says:

With the way the series has been established, there would have to be massive derailment for that to happen. I would like to think that Asagi Ryu is above that, especially since harems have been explicitly named as a trope that will never be seen in any of Fuguriya’s works.

        • EmperorG says:

Unless they’re as graceful as Iono-sama Fanatics, I would not ship a bad yuri harem in the Hanabira series.

        • JbstormburstADV says:

I’d agree, harems and Sono Hanabira doesn’t seem to mix…

        • AXYPB says:

The reason it’s hard to imagine a harem in this series is because there is intense inclination to the contrary. Each work focuses solely on a single couple, whereas harem shows frequently switch focus between couples if they don’t start with that premise. Asagi Ryu’s series “I Want To Be Honest!” concerns two couples and switches between them within a single episode. The climax involves the two pairs discovering each other, which isn’t surprising given the lack of distance between them. Shoujo Sect made no pretense of monogamy, so the harem was inevitable. Sonohana was built from the ground up to avoid this by introducing couples slowly and keeping their dynamics unique enough that they would be incompatible with one another.

To put it another way, if there was going to be a harem, Yuuna would have already made it happen.

    • Yi says:

This will be fun! I remember reading that manga a long time ago, and I like the art style. So this is pretty exciting news!

      My thoughts on yuri harem:
I’m not opposed to it as long as it’s done tastefully. There have been several instances where I think it works wonderfully for the story. Iono the Fanatics (obviously) is one of my favorite yuri manga ever. As is Shoujo Sect, which also features a harem of sorts.

Personally, I think Fuguriya boxed themselves in when they explicitly excluded any harem possibilities. Though I wouldn’t want to see any of the girls we’ve seen so far in a harem -they’d have to break character to do so- I think I’d like to see that with new characters. It can make for pretty refreshing stories. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a true harem either; perhaps a loose love triangle of sorts a la Shoujo Sect. I think there is a way to do it and still keep it in line with Fuguriya’s fluffy, light approach to yuri visual novels. But unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll see something like that for a while.

Fortunately, doujinshi have no such restrictions. Doujin artists are free to do whatever they want with the story, mood, and girls, and not have to worry too much about breaking character. (Hence why so many disturbing “yuri” doujins of K-On! and others floating around.) I guess we’ll see how Asagi Ryu does it.

As a side note, now I really want to see a doujin in which Yuuna (and maybe with the help of Runa and Mai) takes all the girls into her harem.

      • AXYPB says:

Asagi Ryu’s story “I Want To Be Honest!” had a harem ending, but kept the couples separated until the climax. I didn’t think it was distasteful, but I didn’t care for the rushed pacing of the entire story. I think my opinion will change once it’s fully translated, though.

      • AXYPB says:

On that note, I think it’s unrealistic for a harem to form. Each protagonist says “I want only you” or some variation thereof multiple times. If this detail were to be broken, virtually every other established trait would go with it. The characters in such a doujinshi would probably be totally different, and the above sketch doesn’t suggest this route. Then again, given the ending of Girls Sanctuary, I probably should not be expecting so much.

As you can see, I don’t like harems. It’s very difficult for me to imagine, for example, Sara going after anyone other than the girl she left behind many years ago.

        • Yi says:

Very true! It’d be totally out of all the girls’ character to be in a harem. I can’t imagine Yuuna having a harem when she gets so jealous at Nanami for simply hanging out with Mai. The sketches seems to suggest the doujins will stay relatively true to the couples.

Still, doujin in general has never cared too much for being realistic or about the details. They’re often there to give fans and the authors something they’d like to see happen even if the story or the characters don’t allow for it. A harem Hanabira might not happen this time, but perhaps in the future.

“As you can see, I don’t like harems.”
You don’t like harems in general and in Fuguriya’s works? Or you don’t like harems for the Hanabira girls we’ve seen so far?

For me, I don’t mind yuri harems. I wouldn’t want any official Fuguriya works to feature any of the girls we’ve seen in a harem though.

        • AXYPB says:

I don’t care for the high exponent of lust typical of non-comedic harems. I can appreciate love triangles, but welding them together forcibly causes the participants to lose their inhibitions too quickly. One of my favorite aspects of Sonohana is its deliberate avoidance of that conclusion. I have seen harems done properly, but yuri harems I can approve of are even more rare than Sonohana installments.

        • Yi says:

It’s all in the execution, though harem and lust are fairly inseparable to some degree.
True yuri harems are fairly hard to come by though. Iono the Fanatics is the only one I can think of. Shoujo Sect has a slight element of it, but it is really more of a love triangle than harem. Then there’s Sweet Peach, but that’s more just putting a bunch of cute girls into yuri situations, but no actual relationships. I’m probably forgetting something…

      • EmperorG says:

        Yuri harems. Let me think.
Iono-sama Fanatics: The epitome of yuri harem done right. I need not say anything that hasn’t already been said about this exquisite manga.
Koihime Musou: From what I’ve seen in my career as an animeniac, contains the 2nd best harem queen since Iono-sama, Sousou Moutoku (At least that show’s femme-ified version of the legend). A triple threat cutie with brains, leadership skills and…sexual expertise. Of course her entourage all have their separate charms and desire for Sousou pie. To my knowledge, “The Great One” is the only harem queen powerful enough to even come close to the omnipotent Iono-sama in terms of coolness, grace, finesse, determination and allure.

Kaede Sakura from Kampfer: Forgettable groupies who just want pie. At least Sakura herself is sexy and entertaining.

Shoujo Sect: Yi-san already said what needed to be said about this one.

Gokujou Drops and Sweet Peach: I think both are somewhat similar in terms of their harem queen. I’m not 100% sure but from what Sweet Peach has shown me so far, the similarities are there.

Now back to the main yuri harem topic, I agree with Yi-san that harems in general have to be tasteful and entertaining in the sense that should the king or queen suck (The queen almost never sucks), the competitors themselves must be entertaining. If that’s also absent, then the harem is a complete failure.

I agree with “Alphabetical code”, with the way the 7 Hanabira couples have been portrayed as having eyes for only the one in front of them, writing them into a harem is impossible unless they make a harem Hanabira game from scratch which must abide with the following:

1: An Iono or Sousou Moutoku quality harem queen.
        2: Likable competitors.
3: Tasteful humor and fair play.
4: Good options in terms of how to choose the winner.
        5: Dr. Seuss style writing.

We’ll see how the doujin turns out once it’s released.

P.S.: “I fell in Love for the 1st time” ROCKS!

        • Yi says:

Oh yea, I totally forgot about Koihime Musou. I’ve only caught bits and pieces of this, but Sousou is quite the harem leader. I’m not too familiar with Kampfer, so I don’t know if Kaede Sakura counts as a harem lead. To be a “true” harem, it’s not enough just to be a school idol and have groupies. Sweet Peach and Gokujou Drops both have harem vibes, but both are more like an extended love triangle. I don’t mind that either though.

Anyway, about the harem stuff. Agreed mostly. I think #4 is optional however. Harem in its original meaning refers to a polygynous household, so it’s not necessary to have a “winner”. (p.s. That’s what I meant by a “true” harem as opposed to the more common definition of the genre). In any case, keeping it classy is the most important thing.

Asagi Ryu posted an announcement. He has also survived the earthquake; his home in Higashimurayama, Tokyo did not sustain damage. However, it was posted two days ago, so it’s unknown if the further aftershocks affected him or his current location.

    • AXYPB says:

Asagi Ryu made an announcement today. He reports that he’s back on schedule with his work, including the doujinshi for this series.

      • Yi says:

I’m starting to really really anticipate this. Should be lots of fun!

        • Johnny says:

Hope it wouldnt be a full-harem…
By the way, Yi, i’ve read “I Fell In Love For The 1st Time” 4th chapter and one spin-off, “I Want To Be Honest” (1st chapter)… very good, even though it’s more porny !

        • Yi says:

I should totally read them soon!

          p.s. “porny” made me chuckle. ^ ^

  119. shinra says:

Hummm…. I wonder why there’s still no one upload Yume no Youna Hibi Drama CD…. its been months :C

  120. Yellowfruit says:

Hey, just got a little problem, and was wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue.

I downloaded the first game, patched it, played it, and liked it.

So I downloaded the second game, patched it, but when I boot it, I get an error saying; “MainWindow:FileJoin” followed by a bunch of symbols I suspect where supposed to be either Chinese or Japanese, but my computer’s misreading them as just random symbols.

Short to say, it’s annoying. I’ve download the third game (no patch), same issue. I’m running on Windows 7, but like I said; first game works fine, and I’ve tried the compatibility modes.

So; anyone else having issues, or have seen this sort of thing before, or even just make a lick of sense out of it?

    • Swordwind says:

      Windows 7:
Control Panel -> Change Display Language -> Administrative -> Change System Locale for non Unicode programs to Japanese.

      Almost definitely.

      • Yellowfruit says:

Thanks for your help. Just saw the same thing further up the page (got a VERY long list of replies here, I did try to look through at least some of them before I said anything)

I thank you greatly for your help ^_^

        • Yi says:

Maybe I should make a quick ladder/ jump to various relevant comments.
Someday… I’ll get this place more organized, accessible, and easier to navigate.

        • Swordwind says:

Oh, don’t mention it. I’m happy that it helped.

  121. ShizukuErisuFan says:

wah~ There are a lot of good news!! I haven’t catching up with Hanabira since January. Thanks to Yi and AXYPB for the news! Shizuku x Erisu!!
Secondly, I’ve to delay the translation for the light novel Natsu wo Gyutto ne! because of some reasons. Done transliterating up to 15% for the moment. Maybe I’ll done translating the novel by May.
Thirdly; I’ve been waiting for the drama cd Yuuna x Nanami Yume no youna hibi… hasn’t anyone uploaded the cd yet? Uh… =__=

    • Yi says:

I know! Lots of good news, especially the second ShizuErisu game.

Anyway, looking forward to the completed novel translation! Thank you so much for the hardwork! ^ ^

Hm… Not sure about the drama CD. and I can’t remember how long after release are links usually spotted. 😦

  122. Johnny says:

    I’ve just seen it…
    OMFG !!!

“just got a big big nosebleed”

  123. Artemis says:

yi is it possible for you two send me the game with patch to my account since you see i had some problem downloading it so if its possible would you sned me all of the game? or any particular one? please thank you

    • Yi says:

I’m really sorry to say that I can’t send the whole game through email. The files are just too big. Also, I have a really slow internet connection for the next month or so, so I just can’t do it. 😦

Maybe try some of the mirror links. See if those work for you.

Again, I apologize I can’t be of more help.

  124. Manfred says:

thx for uploading this wonderful visual novels Yi.

also, could someone post the raw or english translated scripts for the games? my computer hates me and i cant run the game in Japanese even after the unicode change or folder renaming.

  125. AXYPB says:

Fuguriya posted an announcement today. They and Peko are alive and well, although their hometown of Itabashi City sustained severe damage. Restoration efforts are well underway and the local human and fish populations have all survived as well. The third radio show has also been posted.

  126. icemonster987 says:

hope everyones alright.. im guessing that the english patch will be delayed.

  127. hanabiralover says:

I love this series! How nice it would be to have a cute Japanese girl to have fun with 😉

    • Yi says:

Awesome! Thank you and the team so much for your hard work and release!! ^ ^

    • Dragon Of HouraI says:

Thank you man your a true bro.
This is my favorite couple in the series!

    • SilverWind says:

At 1st I felt very happy until I Noticed the Remake version….. So is there any diff between the original or the remake? If the text/story is the same does that means you can make an English patch in no time for the remake version?

  128. syzrus says:

    thanks for your hardwork 😀

  129. random dude says:

does anyone know if the fourth hanabira game has been translated?

  130. Manfred says:

Are there anyone translating the light novels?
cuz i really like to read the storylines 😛

    thx

  131. Yi says:

A new update on this page. I’m sure most people Hanabira fans already know by now, but I’ll make a comment for future reference:

A Kiss For The Petals – Joined In Love With You

Please go thank AXYPB and the gang for their hard work!

    • SilverWind says:

Hey, that patch worked for the remake version, thanks for telling me that, I though I would have to wait for months for the eng patch of the remake version O_O.

      • Yi says:

I haven’t actually played the remake. Which version is better? Or is there really no difference?

        • AXYPB says:

The remake contains some new backgrounds and music and some corrections in the script. The translation is based on the remake script; both versions of the game are patched with the same translation. Other than two non-essential lines deleted from the remake, I can assure you that the voice work in both versions are identical.

        • Yi says:

Hm… Well, the bg and the new music is enough of an excuse (not that I really need one) to play through Reo and Mai’s story again.

    • gozieson says:

Holy sheesh yes! Now I can find out the personalities of this couple and use it for formulating my fanfic a little better (hopefully!).

  132. ShizukuErisuFan says:

I have translated the 8th light novel with the pairing of Shizuku x Erisu. Yi has provide the download link above in this page. If the link is dead or broken, please inform me so that I could post a new one here.

Well, I’m still working on the 9th light novel (Mai x Reo) but it’ll take sometime for me to finish translating this one. I’ve been very busy with my college stuff now, but I won’t drop the translating works. It is just that I need some time to complete it, and I’ll try to complete it by the end of June.

  133. Eien says:

We need a new Erisu x Shizuku game.

  134. erika says:

when will the other games have their english patches? >.<

    • Yi says:

Very interesting article. Highly recommended to all fans of this series (especially Reo x Mai) after playing the visual novel and watching the OVA.

  135. sekiryu says:

Is the 9th light novel series the remake of 3 or is it something completely different? I have been a bit confused about that.

    • Yi says:

If you’re talking about the light novels, the ninth light novel is actually A Valentine Rhapsody (バレンタイン狂騒曲) with Erisu and Shizuku.

I assume you meant the visual novels, which has a pretty ambiguous “9th”.

As I understand it, the 9th visual novel should be Amakute Otona no Torokeru Chuu, which features Takako and Runa’s sequel. The remake isn’t counted, and Hanahira (which could also be counted as the “9th”) is a side story.

      Hope this helps. ^ ^

  136. Ethan cubic says:

    cannot download><

    • Yi says:

      😦

There’s plenty of mirrors from different download sites. They all work for me in both US and Taiwan. I doubt not a single one work for you. Try them all. ^ ^

Or… You could just buy the game, which would be super awesome!!

  137. afkeroge says:

I finished Hanabira 6 and 8 this week. Well, I only understood about 90% of the unvoiced text because of some really complicated kanji, but for the most part, I think I got the gist of the stories. And after Hanabira 6, I think I came to like YuunaXNanami more, with a very nice Drama CD to boot. ^^

    • Yi says:

Yuuna definitely got a huge boost with the sixth one. I loved seeing her slightly psychotic side when it comes to Nanami. Definitely one of my favorite pairs.

Anyway, in my review for it, I lauded this particular pair as the glue to the world of Hanabira. 6 really is awesome.

Eight is nice as well. The character designs have two of my favorite things: hime-cut and voluminous hair. What more can I ask for?

      • afkeroge says:

Hanabira’s interactions are very nice while keeping the plot clean and simple. With only a small source of literary conflict, it doesn’t introduce unnecessary angst into the games.

“I loved seeing her slightly psychotic side when it comes to Nanami.”

The golden shower scene was probabaly too much for me, though. Haha.

“Anyway, in my review for it, I lauded this particular pair as the glue to the world of Hanabira. 6 really is awesome.”

I wish someone could translate it. If worse comes to worst, I think I may take it up, but It’ll be very, very slow.

What I like about Hanabira 8 is that we get into the thoughts of a tsundere. Most visual novels are limited to character revelations because the tsundere is often a “capturable” heroine. But here, the protagonist being a tsundere, we can see the sweetness of this archetype of characters firsthand.

“Eight is nice as well. The character designs have two of my favorite things: hime-cut and voluminous hair. What more can I ask for?”

The character designs for Tenshi no Hanabira Zome are indeed wonderful. But what I liked most about the aspects of the character appearances is Erisu’s hair and eyes. They’re to die for! ❤
And of course, a Yamato Nadeshiko is always pretty, or is it because I'm Asian?

        • Yi says:

I actually kind of enjoyed the golden shower. Haha. Yuuna’s such a deviant ~♥

Ooh that’s a good point about the tsundere perspective! It’s a good way to explore deeper into this archetype.

          Erisu’s hair… OMG! And yamato nadeshiko. ^ ^

  138. ShizukuErisuFan says:

    Yeah!! Finally I’ve found this!!
4th Drama CD –> yume no you na hibi

    http://www.mediafire.com/?uwjnfvk537qaose

PS: I haven’t downloaded it myself. So, if it is not the right file, forgive me. Lol.

    • afkeroge says:

      Awesome! *downloads*

    • afkeroge says:

According to the file name: その花びらにくちづけを 夢のような日々.mp3, it is indeed Yume no you na Hibi.

    • AXYPB says:

I have to wonder why it’s a single file instead of an archive. This must mean that there’s a WV CUE package or something similar in the wild by now. I will look for it as soon as possible.

      • afkeroge says:

Ah, it seems that this is no ordinary .mp3 file. It somehow has the .txt files integrated into the file. Another thing is that the playback is somewhat faster than it’s supposed to be.

      • ShizukuErisuFan says:

It is not strange for me. Because my copy of Kaedechan supermode is the same, which is only one long audio mp3. All the tracks were combined into one single audio file.

        • AXYPB says:

According to the product release sheet, the CD is 79 minutes long. This MP3 is 69 minutes long. I really want to know how this happened.

        • afkeroge says:

The audio playback is faster than it’s supposed to be. I think that you’ll be able to spot the difference from the other drama CD’s by the faster dialogue and the BGM.

    • afkeroge says:

The drama CD is about how Nanami stays with Yuuna because the former’s house is being renovated, or at least that’s how I understand the audio. Of course Nanami and Yuuna’s parents seem to be permanently absent throughout the games and the drama CD’s…

    • AXYPB says:

Where exactly did you find this link?

      • ShizukuErisuFan says:

Sorry. I’m just doing some random search with the kanji words. And finally after a few months trying, this results came out!! Yeay!
        Now, I’m downloading it!

    • Yi says:

Thank you so much ShizukuErisuFan. ^ ^

It is indeed the right file, and I’m sure all the Hanabira fans super appreciate your finding it. Thanks again!!

  139. AXYPB says:

Do you still have the site where you found it? Was it a forum?

    • ShizukuErisuFan says:

Em.. yeah. I think it is chinese forum. Here: http://www.yamibo.com/archiver/tid-133767.html.

      • AXYPB says:

Whoever compressed it did it entirely wrong. I don’t suppose we’ll be able to ask them for an ISO of their source.

        • ShizukuErisuFan says:

What do you mean by that? Is the track arrangements all wrong or something else?

        • ShizukuErisuFan says:

By the way, take it easy. This is better than nothing. I’m willing to wait for a better release of this drama cd.

        • AXYPB says:

I agree that it’s better than nothing. I’m just disappointed that after many months of searching, all we have to show for it is an imperfect copy while we were able to get lossless files of the others in a shorter time.

        • Yi says:

I’m not disappointed at all. We’ve waited months for this, and I’ve honestly sort of given up on the idea that anyone could find it. I’m really glad ShizukuErisuFan’s efforts gave us a chance at enjoying this wonderful wonderful drama CD, and a more complete look at the Hanabira universe. So, cheers, hun. ^ ^

        • AXYPB says:

Let it be known that although I am grateful it was finally found in any form, I will not stop searching until a proper copy is found.

        • Yi says:

Good luck! In the mean time, I’ll include this version on the page.
