Touhou Seirensen – Undefined Fantastic Object (東方星蓮船) is the twelfth official game of the Touhou series from ZUN. The demo version has been floating around since a while back, but the full version was released recently during Comiket 76.
Characteristic of all the Touhou games, Undefined Fantastic Object has a pretty good story, great music, and most importantly, fantastically cute characters. As a side note, Sanae seems to have gained a lot of popularity, as she is one of the three playable characters in addition to Reimu and Marisa.
I have been a big fan of Touhou for a long time. I enjoy reading the countless Touhou doujins and have played every single Touhou game. (Though I have yet to beat a single one… not even on easy…) Anyway, Seirensen is yet another ridiculously hard Danmaku shooting game. After playing UFO for several hours, I still can not get very far. I guess that is the reason Touhou Wiki exists; so I can find out what happens past the second stage.
This is the only boss I was able to meet… I need to sharpen up my Danmaku skills.
As expected from the title, Undefined Fantastic Objects (UFO) is partly themed after unidentified flying objects (UFO). Gensokyo seems to be a wonderful collection of legends and myths, and I suppose that it include even urban myths now.
(These last couple of screenshots are found on google, since I was not able to get there.)
Anyway, Comiket 76 has been amazing, with the announcement of Hanabira anime, release of Touhou games… etc. I can not wait for the doujinshi (preferably yuri) that will start circulating soon.

Heheh, I remember when I first when to Japan, I visited Akihabara and they were having a big Touhou promotion; I kept wondering who the fuck all those little girls were and why I should care =P

@Snark: Yea, Touhou was like that at first for me too, especially because there are soooooooo many Touhou characters.
@shijima: I like Sanae too. I didn’t realize how popular she has become since her debut. Anyway, even with unlimited continues, I can’t beat it because it resets to the beginning of the stage with each continue…
This is one aspect of Japan that I’ve been missing on.. the Touhou craze. I’m only partially aware of it’s existence…
And sorry for not being as up & on target with my checking on your site as you have been with mine. Balancing social networking with fiscal responsibilities has always been a strange balancing act I’ve never gotten down.

The Touhou seires is addicting. I absolutly love the characters, the stories, the music, and the games, even though I’m not really good at them. I got this one about a konth ago and I’ve only gotten to the final bosses last spell. I can make it all the way to the 5th stage without dieing but then the stage 5 boss… *shudder* Oh well. I love it all none the less. And yuri. Can’t forget the yuri.

@Narichi: Haha, the yuri is my number one reason for being such a Touhou fan for sure!
Anyways, you did much better than what I can do. I think the farthest I’ve ever gotten is stage 4 of Mountain of Faith. The games are just way too hard. I do enjoy watching others beat lunatic stage on youtube though.
